Pub Nelligan's — Restaurant in Quebec

Do not go here. When my buddy and I discovered this place a few months ago, it was alright, except for the fact that the bartender berated us into giving a bigger tip (we had already given 12% and put another 20$ in the fuzzball). Strike one. Then recently we went back trying to get a Guinness, in those 4 months, the price had risen 1.50$ putting the 2 Guinness and tip to 25$. Strike two. This time we went when the place wasnt full, maybe 60% and as my friend and I went to sit at a table, the staff told us we couldn't sit there and that we needed to find a 2person table, not the 4person table we chose. Over the 90min we spent there, no one sat at those tables and it didn't get any busier. Strike three. In summary, the staff were rude and kept asking for more money, the price of their drinks are far from competitive, and the recent renovation that lowered the ceiling has reduced the atmosphere significantly. If you're looking for a decent Irish pub in Quebec city, there are better choices. The Bar Saint Mathews is just up the hill 20 seconds and is a much better choice. Fek, chu allé là avec Annie la première fois pis on est allé y rejoindre son chum qui revenait d'une soirée scotch à la SAQ avec ses collègues de travail, qui l'avaient justement accompagné ce soir-là, jusqu'au Nelligan, comme quoi Éric c'est soit un ben bon jack ou encore ses collègues trippent poésie canadienne-française pis ont décidé de l'accompagner à cet endroit là pour se rappeler leurs cours de littérature québécoise au cégep. Je me rappelle que la fille qui nous avait servit nos bières ce soir-là avait des tatous. Tk. Éric devant être un bon jack, Annie est tombée enceinte, la pandémie est arrivée pis j'ai fini par retourner au Nelligan que quelques années plus tard cette fois-ci avec Marie-Hélène, quand le retour au bureau est devenu réalité. La fille avec des tatous était toujours là, pis moi, ben, euh, j'ai commandé une bière, Marie a commandé un cidre pis on a tellement aimé notre expérience qu'on y est retourné à peu près 39 fois depuis. La place est ben cool, le choix de bière est souvent ben correct, y'a des whiskys japonais sur l'ardoise, pis Marie a pas trop l'air de chialer sur le choix de cidres (tant qu'y a pas trop de sulfites ou de cailloux dedans, chu pu trop certain).

Aussi, y'a une serveuse qu'on aimait ben gros qu'on a pas vu depuis un boutte, la fille avec des tatous aussi on l'a pas vu depuis un boutte, mais le gars l'autre jour était ben gentil pis il avait l'air de ben gros connaître ses Miss Vickys. Tk, comme l'ami George (Harrison) le disait en 1970, "All things must pass", pis c'est ça, c'est ben cool aller là, même si le temps passe, les choses changent, pis que les douleurs d'hier laissent place à l'oubli, l'indifférence et l'indifférence de l'oubli (bon, là, j'pense m'a m'prendre une autre pour oublier ce que j'viens de dire, la profondeur de la réflexion pouvant parfois me blesser et m'inviter à oublier). Sur ce, m'a aller m'commander une autre pinte (je m'en allais vers ça dans la dernière parenthèse, fek c'est pas trop une surprise rendu icitte) ou bedon' jouer avec le chien que deux habituées amènent avec elles chaque semaine qui vient et qui passe.

PS. Julie est venue l'autre fois pis elle a ben gros aimé ça, mais elle a fait attention à son nombre de consommation comme Louis voulait pas venir la chercher. La prochaine fois, on va t'inviter aussi Louis, en espérant que tu sois un bon jack comme Éric (sinon tu me...

Good beer, good music. It's just not worth putting up with the lousy service and 15% forceful tip, if you they are gonna charge you the tip even if their hospitality is not worth it, they may as well just put it as part of the price of the product. I used to go there regularly, the last nail on the coffin for me was in the middle of the summer festival they asked for my ID to go inside, I didn't have it so ok, I asked if I could at leats use the restroom, since the initial plan was to go in, buy multiple beers and use the restroom, they wouldn't even let me in to do that, so yeah,...
