I was excited about this place when I came across it on Google. From the pictures, it looked like it had a great ambience and a decent menu. Unfortunately they had terrible service and mediocre food.
They were closed during their advertised opening hours. We had checked the hours on Google and even took a look at the hours on their door while we were looking for parking. Yet when we reached, the door was locked and there was a post-it sized note saying they were closed for half an hour (half an hour from when? Who knows). It sucked because someone in our group had already paid for parking which is hard to find in the area.
We called to check when they would open and they were very defensive. They said they were taking a break to eat for half an hour. I chalked it up to them having a bad day and figured we'd circle back.
We drove around the city for half an hour and then called to check if they were open. They were very defensive again. We just wanted to know if we should come in to eat or not and it took a good minute of back and forth for them to tell us that yes, they were now open.
Any other restaurant would have at least apologized for wasting our time and money, and we were beginning to question why we even wanted to go there. But we had young kids with us who were hungry so we stuck to the plan.
At the restaurant they were impatient with us. They were very unclear about what they had and didn't have from the menu and seemed surprised when we asked for basics on their menu like chicken shawarma (which they had run out of) and beef shawarma (which seemed to cause a lot of confusion is spite of it being written right behind them). The fact that we asked for Poutine for the kids (also on their menu) seemed to surprise them as well. There was like a whole discussion with the chef for every item we ordered. Very bizarre.
When the food arrived they served the wrong dish to 4 people. The food itself looked pretty but tasted very mediocre. It was my first time trying morrocan cuisine, so it's hard for me to tell if it was supposed to taste that way or not, but compared to other Mediterranean cuisine I have tried, it was...
Read moreWe thought we had reservations at a very nice place down the street. Turns out there was an error. We decided to walk and just find a place that was open. We stumbled across Saveurs du Monde. What delicious and delightful treat!!! Most of the patrons were Arabic so we knew the food must be authentic and it was. The owner greeted us with a warm and genuine smile. She was so gracious! They were out of the beef brochette I wanted so she recommended the sausage and it was amazing. As busy as it was with more and more of the QC locals coming in, she still took time to check on us. The food was fantastic but the hospitality was so much more than you could ask for. I truly wanted to take her home with us! Please don’t miss this spot outside of the tourist area. Warm, welcoming and delicious. You will be glad you stopped in.
The owner told us she also has a beautiful Moroccan style hotel above the restaurant so there is no doubt in my mind, that is where we will...
Read moreWorst service, very mediocre halal food, and overall terrible experience. If you are English speaking, they will not like you. The difference in mood talking to my family versus another family that spoke the owners language was jaw dropping. They even brought them pots of free tea while we were waiting for food and making conversation the whole time.
Food was not good, very stale chicken and very average taste of the sides. They charge you extra for bread that should come with hummus. Every question we asked the owner came with a sarcastic response of rude answer.
When her credit card machine was down, she told me to pay in cash. I didn’t have cash so she asked me to withdraw money which required further fees and expenses. When I told her I will wait, the machine magically got fixed 2 minutes later.
Rude owner, terrible service, mediocre food, they will treat you badly if you are not from their country or language. Will not come back, I don’t...
