The waitress ignored us when we walked in. I stood by the desk for a couples minutes as she walked past me several times. She was just cleaning tables, not actually helping anyone. She kept loking up at me, and then would continue cleaning the table. I didn't know what was going on until a Caucasian man who haf been eating at a table nearby me atood up and stood eight in front of me. The waitress immediately stopped what she was doing, came over to him and he asked for another glass of water. She gave it to him while smilinf and chaatting with him. He went and sat back down with his water. The waiteess went back to cleaning tables. Um. What?? I am African and my husband, who was with me (waiting behind me at the entrance) is Asian. Ethnicity is the only difference between us and the man she so willingly helped. The wife of that Caucasian man kept staring at me at this point, with a smug smile on her face. Wow. I continued standing there for another minute, and I was becoming very indignant at this point. A very nice Caucasian family of 4 walked in behind me. The family seemed confused as to why the waitress was not helping me (and, by extension, not helping them as they were behind me). They even asked me if I was waiting for the waitress and I said Yes. They stood for a while behind me, and I decided to simply let them go in front of me as it is rude to make people wait a long time (even though it was the waitress who was at fault here). Sure enough, as soon as the family got in front of me, the waitress came right over and sat them at a table and gave them menus. My husband and I left a minute or two later as it was pbvious that we were not going to be served there. Even if I had demanded food, would I want...
Read moreMy dining experience at the Hong Kong restaurant was nothing short of a nightmare. The food, to put it bluntly, was abysmal. The noodle soup was devoid of any flavor, leaving me wondering if it was merely hot water with noodles. The chicken chow mein was barely edible, only salvageable with copious amounts of soy sauce and chili sauce, as if they were desperately trying to mask the taste. The honey garlic chicken, on the other hand, was drenched in so much honey that it felt like I was consuming an entire jar of the sweet stuff.Had to waste the food completely.
To add insult to injury, the service was a disgrace. The staff seemed more interested in her smartphone than in catering to the needs of the customers. Our server remained glued to a corner, completely oblivious to our existence. It was as if we were invisible, and our dining experience was inconsequential to them.
To sum it up, this restaurant delivered the epitome of a dining disaster. It's a place I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. Save your taste buds and your time – steer clear of this culinary...
Read moreIn search of the best Canadian Style Chinese Food in Revelstoke! Came across this cute Chinese Restaurant called Hong Kong Restaurant in the heart of Revelstoke. We had their Special Combination Dinners No. 1, 4 & 7 which included all the core staples of your standard Western Style Chinese Food: Sweet & Sour Pork, Chicken Chow Mein, Almond Chicken, Dry Ribs and Beef Chop Suey. We also ordered a side of Spring Rolls & Egg Rolls - the latter being hard to find back at home. Everything was good and exactly how I expected it to be for Western Style Chinese Food 👏. I usually prefer authentic Chinese Food - but I do crave Western Style Chinese Food once in a while as a treat. Service was fast and super friendly. Prices were very reasonable for the portions. Annie the owner was really nice and we had a quick chat about her story at this 15 year old restaurant. Definitely worth a stop when in Revelstoke. We don’t have many restaurants like this in the Lower Mainland anymore - so...
