Where to Eat in Revelstoke for Ski Trips

On boxing day we got snowed into Revelstoke on our way to Alberta for the holidays and it was probably the highlight of our trip! We wouldn’t have visited Quartermaster otherwise! With small seasonal menus- quartermaster does not miss! Even when our sturgeon came out slightly over, the GM Nick was quick to make it right with a new fish and pleasant conversation! He is excellent with his guests and as people who work in the industry we definitely noticed. Our server was also so lovely giving us enough space to chat with each other. Now back to the food- the bison tartare was a highlight for us with house made crispy chips. For me the most outstanding plate was the root vegetable salad from rutabaga and turnip. So balanced in savoury and fresh! Yum! They call it the best restaurant in Revelstoke for a reason. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to eat well on your next ski trip. If you’re with a big group they offer a rib eye platter (for 2 but could feed 4!) that stays on the menu year round. Something else to note; they shop/grow local and if we had cocktails we would’ve enjoyed herbs infused and grown by the mixologist themselves! Cheers! We can’t wait to come back! :)

What an experience! We didn't have a reservation and since we were only two, we sat at the bar. Cody was the bartender and is a master at his craft. We shared the Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) which was three pieces of perfectly cooked and seasoned chicken along with a side salad topped with blue cheese and pecans. It's a nice restaurant so we refrained from picking up the chicken pieces with our hands to pick them clean. Then we each had a dessert and they were both divine in their own way. The Honey Sorbet was honey elevated with artistry in a delicious dessert that wasn't heavy. The Chocolate was a collection of chocolate in different forms balanced exquisitely with fresh berries and vanilla ice cream. The staff were all so professional and polite, all dressed in black attire that paired with the aesthetic of the restaurant. I recommend making a reservation and enjoying this dining experience.

Worst dining experience ever! Braised rabbit way too dry due to overcook. Ribeye bone in is ok in general but a bit tough and it is not outstanding at all. Overall, no dish worth the price, really below standard.. Worst is the manager is so rude to us and i strongly advise him to take basic customer service 101 before being a restaurant manager. Oh my god, I will not visit Quarter Master "Kingdom" again due to this horrible experience, as there is so much other good restaurant in town.......

Reply to the manager's comment on July 24th:

We had tried our best to keep our 2 year old toddler calm with a whole bag of different "tools". Honestly, our toddler did not keep "shrieking" for 2 hours, she just started to be loud when we had our dessert by the end of dinner. The manager chose to "warn" us very seriously at the very first time after we ordered our last dessert. Frankly, if the manager "warned" us earlier, we would not bother to order our last 2 desserts, we would surely pay the bill and leave the place without any hesitation.

While we could understand and respect the other adult guests talking and laughing loudly with alcohol taken, we were not respected and understood. Why would someone expect a toddler to be more quiet than the other alcohol-taking adults? We felt discriminated at Quartermaster. We eat frequently outside with the kids but no one had ever said such kind of words to us.

To deliever an unwelcome message to your guests, a professional manager would proceed in a more influencing manner that would not offend the guests to leave a low-rating review. We would appreciate if the manager gave us a friendly reminder ahead instead of a harsh warning at the first time he talked to us.

Please have a look at the statement mentioned in your official website, Quartermaster is believed to be a place for family dinner with an exceptional experience, but it was actually not family friendly, especially with kids. Good luck to the owner and the manager in running this eatery...

Upscale boutique steakhouse. Dark and intimate ambiance. Great service. They have a smaller more limited menu which I appreciate. They try to do a few things well.

They do not seem to be afraid to take some risks when you look at their menu. There are a few items that seem like they could be polarizing.

Really liked the roasted king oyster mushroom appetizer. Some of my friends thought the root vegetable caesar was just ok but I really loved it. It was such a creative take on caesar. The flavors seemed mild at first but they continued to grow as your eat more. The roasted pork belly was pretty good too.

We had the lamb shank and the code de beuf. I'm not a big lamb fan but this one was pretty good. Worked well with all the king oyster risotto. If you try anything here you have to try the cote de beuf. It'a for 2 people. Comes with 2 good sized ribeye steaks cooked medium rare over assorted grilled veggies and comes with a chimichurri (they call it something else) and house made reduction.

The chocolate & stout cake was good, couldn't really taste the stout though. Just a hint of orange, I don't like too much orange with chocolate. The poached pear was just ok. I think it's one of those things where they risks and some love it and some don't.

If you're looking for a nice steakhouse in Revelstoke this...

Beautiful restaurant, bartender was super pleasant. I dont normally leave reviews but feel I needed to on this night since it was a pricy meal. We ordered a lot of different dishes including drinks and appetizers. Out of the 6 menu items only two were truly good. The Korean Fried Chicken and the chicken liver mousse were great. The rest all looked nice but unfortunately left us unsatisfied. The roasted cauliflower entree being the biggest let down. Seemingly missing ingredients, almost raw and half a head for 34 bucks. It all would have been acceptable if our waitress would have done her job. We asked multiple questions when ordering and throughout our meal and we were met with disinterest from her to answer them and truly left us knowing she didn't know or care about the menu. It was apparent she had minmal knowledge of the menu. No check ups on the food after it was served, she never came back from the kitchen with any answers to our questions (only 3 minor questions btw... one being a sesfood allergy question) had to retrieve our own bill. Honestly it was an awkward dinner for 350 bucks. Im sure we probably got unlucky with our picks off the menu and with our appointed waitress but I will select other restaurants next time first when Im...
