Janice Cake Shop — Restaurant in Richmond

I got a VIP card from this bakery long time ago, so I get 10% off on all the orders. I came to buy cakes many times.

I ordered four small fruit tarts, a chocolate cake, sesame cake and white chocolate mousse with red bean and matcha cake. Total was about $12. Everything tastes great. The bakery has some Chinese Hong Kong style buns. They taste like other Chinese buns. I don't find any big differences between this Hong Kong style of bakery and others.

The bakery is located in the same complex of 2000 supermarket on Capstan Way. Sometimes the complex has many cars and it is hard to find parking in front of the bakery. Then we need to park further away and walk to the bakery.

Today we bought a fresh mango fruit cake for someone's birthday. Oh my goodness! The mango was so good. It was sweet and fresh and it smelt really good! It was...

I have been a long time customer at Janice Cake shop, but today will be the last time I will be purchasing cakes from this shop. We bought a lychee rose mousse cake, but it was a disaster. The cake was beyond soaked and turned into mush, which caused the mousse part to collapse and lose its shape. Furthermore, as I was eating the cake, I felt something in my mouth. Turns out I was eating some sort of paper that was found underneath the cake part, which I suspect it is the parchment paper or some sort. I double checked and was not from the cake circle pad, as it was not soaked.

I regret we did not inspect the cake prior to leaving the shop. However, we never think we need to do so as we never received any problems from this shop. For the price we paid, I do not think it is worth it. Please please inspect your cakes...

It's like a unique treasure hunt experience. Hidden Gem Alert, one has to try their Wolfberry Osmanthus Pudding!!!! Like whoa..... Wow! It's like a Michelin star dessert hidden in a trove of average to good baked goods. And they have other gem items too! They have these mochi....like....mounds... I have never seen anywhere else that are squishy... Soft.... And sticky....

Their chicken bun is very tasty too (I'd give it a four star kinda thing, comparable to Kam Do Bakery or any consistently good typical Chinese bakery. They also have cute artistic desserts but I didn't try the other ones yet... They just look nice... So can't speak on that but man... That Wolfberry Osmanthus Pudding was wow with elegant vibes too.
