This is one of the Chinese restaurants that opens till late in Richmond, BC. It serves many Canton dishes as well as some Chiu Chow dishes. We ordered 5 dishes (see photos) for 6 of us. The best is the deep fried intestines. For those who like this dish must know that the crispiness is the key. If deep frying for too long, they will become very dry, but if too short, it would defeat the whole purpose of having this dish. Sing Yee managed to do it JUST RIGHT. And I love the appropriate amount of fat they left on the intestines to give them more flavor. The deep fried duck meat and taro is not bad. The meat in the taro remained juicy and tender with the right amount of flavor. It would have been better if they had a better control of the deep frying time (honestly I don't understand why they did so well with the pig intestines but not this one). As you can probably see from the photo, they turned brown and became quite dry because of deep drying for too long. The fish fillet and the steam fish came as a combo for $59.90. They both tasted alright. Nothing outstanding. The WORST is the beef briskets with daikon. If I really had to rate it, I would give it 1/10. Why? The beef briskets were very dry and tough, and the daikon were not fully cooked. Not to mention that there were so little beef briskets. The photo might have given you an impression otherwise, but in fact the briskets were so thinly sliced. We regretted for ordering this. I think we may still visit again given Sing Yee's long operating hours and the vast variety in its menu. We will never order beef...
Read moreSing Yee Chinese Restaurant stands out not just for its delicious food but for the truly exceptional service that feels rare in today’s dining world. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this place is family-owned and operated with genuine care and pride. The staff greeted us warmly and took the time to explain menu options, making helpful recommendations without rushing. This level of attentiveness might honestly be the best service I’ve ever experienced in a Chinese restaurant.
The menu offers a great variety of classic Cantonese dishes alongside some modern twists. Each dish we tried was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. The portions were generous, making it easy to share and sample a range of items. The crispy roasted duck was perfectly cooked with a wonderfully crisp skin and tender meat, while the stir-fried vegetables retained their vibrant color and crunch.
What really elevates Sing Yee is the warmth and attention from the staff. Throughout our meal, servers checked in thoughtfully, refilled our tea promptly, and genuinely seemed invested in making our experience memorable. It felt more like dining at a close friend’s home than a restaurant.
The dining room is cozy and inviting, making it ideal for family dinners or special occasions. Cleanliness and ambiance were spot on, contributing to a very comfortable atmosphere.
In summary, Sing Yee Chinese Restaurant combines top-notch food with what might be the best service you’ll find in any Chinese restaurant. It’s a gem worth visiting...
Read moreDefinitely a recommended place for all who is craving some delicious traditional Cantonese dinner. One of my favourite and best chinese food. They are always very busy, staffs work fast and hard. The owner, very sassy but honest...love her, she really works hard and seems to always remember all the customers who come frequently. If not, she treats all her customers like she knows them for a long time. This is not one of those modern, new fancy Chinese restaurant that is everywhere around Richmond, this is one of the few places to get the real chinese/canto food. Great place to bring family and relatives. I brought my relatives from Hong Kong here and they love the food here more than in HK.
Edit: from reading some of the previous reviews, I have never ordered the pricy items, I usually stick to the classics/basics (the bbq, a veggie dish, 2 other meat dishes). Staffs do try to give you recommendations or tell you to try what they have fresh in the kitchen. They aren't trying to make you get the expensive things, just the more delicious dishes they believe is their specialty. Also, please make reservations! Like I mentioned, they are always busy. As for the low rating service, if you aren't someone who aren't use to the hustle and canto business style (in other words, if you are use to the western service you get from places like cactus club cafe or Japanese restaurant ) the service here might not be to...
