Unpleasant experience on our visit on Canada day. Horrible and rude staff. Boyfriend ordered matcha frappe with soy milk. Tasted like matcha powder with shaved ice added to it. He went back and asked staff if his drink could be remade and it was made known to him that it would be watery because he asked for soy milk—in this case they didn’t use the ice cream that would normally be used in a matcha frappe. Ganged up on him very rudely especially the old lady that was running the till smug face and all. Did not even try to offer alternatives. I went back the second time around asked them nicely if they could remake his drink to the regular matcha frappe. The guy with the ponytail looked frustrated and annoyed but couldn’t make eye contact with me when I looked at him. Old lady came around and tried to insist that soy milk matcha frappe really tasted like that. We did not pay $7 for a poorly made drink. We already understood that it was watery because it was made with soy—an honest mistake on our part. We order the same drink at other cafe locations too and it never tasted like that that’s why I’m wondering also if the barista even new how to make the drink correctly. Had it happened at any other Waves store or Blenz or Starbucks, they would have happily remade it. Being a former Starbucks employee myself, that was always the norm if the customer wasn’t satisfied with their drink no questions asked nor rudeness shown to the customer.
P.S. to owner: Don’t respond to people’s unsatisfactory ratings and say, “we’ll gladly remake your drink for you” if you or your staff are going to be angry and rude in return. That is not customer service. The people working there shouldn’t be in customer service at all or rather they need to be trained better.
Unhygienic employees here also because one of the younger female employee was eating on the floor in the face of customers. She took a bite of something in front of me. Disgusting service and behaviour.
The location is great, but save yourself the headache from horrible service and just go to a different Waves location or Blenz...

Read moreThis is easily one of my favorite coffee places in the area. I've tried them all. The place is huge for one thing, plenty of seats. I never had a problem finding one whether I'm by myself or with other people. I always order my black coffee, its always fresh and balanced. I frequently order some of the breakfast sandwiches, but my favorite is the breakfast bagel that has melted cheese together with bacon and egg and the chipotle sauce completes the flavour. I've had the curry wrap as well. I've always wanted to try the cheesecakes because they look appetizing but maybe next time. I like that there are tons of choices from dessert to sandwiches. I know that they are also fresh, not sitting in the food display for weeks. It becomes hard after a while. Although the place is busy I've never seen a long line and I have always gotten my drink relatively quick. The staff is friendly whenever I come. This is my pet peeve whenever doing reviews. I dedicate a star just for that purpose coming from the service industry myself. The ambient music is just right, unlike the Starbucks across the street blasting music you can’t have a conversation and there’s plenty of light coming in thru the huge glass windows. Not to mention the best views overlooking the river. I've had great conversations with regulars here. On a nice weather like this I enjoy sitting outside soaking the sun. I highly...
