Stopped by on the first day of Vancouver Dine Out to check out their lunch menu. I’ve lived in Richmond for a while now and had no idea this place existed. The vibe here is super chill—like a trendy, low-key spot where you can catch up with your friends over brunch and gossip about how broke you are post-Christmas. The servers were awesome, super attentive, and even offered us fresh cutlery after every course. Appetizer: The Fried Eggplant? Not bad. The inside was soft and mushy, while the outside stayed crispy. But it was sliced so thin that I barely got any eggplant—it was mostly the crispy batter. The candied lemon, though, was a star. It brought a nice zesty kick to every bite and helped cut through the greasiness. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken came with thigh meat, which is always the go-to—juicy, tender, and boneless. The batter was crispy in the dry spots, where it wasn't soaked in that sauce. It made the skin melt and was flaking off. Tasty, but messy. Honestly, I’d prefer the sauce on the side so the chicken could stay crispy. Main: The Dine Out Burger? Pretty decent, like your typical gourmet restaurant burger. The brioche buns were soft and toasty, the tomatoes were perfectly ripe and sweet, and the lettuce was crisp enough to make a rabbit jealous. These three ingredients? Picture Perfect. But then there was the bacon. Thick-cut sounds great, but it felt like I was wrestling it with my teeth—way too chewy. The sauce was a nice aioli. The mushrooms were meaty and perfectly cooked, and the sautéed onions added a nice touch (and apparently, they’re not part of their regular burgers). It added that sweetness to contrast the saltiness from the meats. Unfortunately, the patty was overcooked and a bit dry. It was like the spirit of the burger disappeared—kind of like my holiday savings. All the flavors worked together so beautifully, but the dryness of the patty was hard to ignore. Pro tip: this is a two-hands burger. Forget the knife and fork unless you’re ready for a fight with that bacon. Oh, and the fries? They are like McDonald’s, but crispier. The Crab & Prawn Spaghettini had a surprising kick despite only having chili flakes. But you have to mix it like your life depends on it before taking a good bite. My first few bites were bland, like boiled spaghetti. But after giving it a proper toss (or three), the flavors finally came through. That said, the chili flakes flavour really took over, and the crab and shrimp tasted like they are NPC in games. Dessert: The Poached Pear was okay but definitely not soft enough. I had to use a knife to cut it apart. The ice cream tasted like something you’d grab from the “premium” frozen ice cream aisle at the grocery store—not bad, but not memorable either. The Sticky Toffee Pudding? Sweet. Like, really sweet. Sweeter than the first time I tried to be romantic by giving roses to my mom for Mother's day. Too much for me, but I can see how someone with a major sweet tooth would love it. I will say that the mix of textures between the layers in one bite was pretty nice and kept it interesting. Fun spot overall, but there were definitely some hits and misses. Would I come back? Maybe...

I'm delighted to write a positive review of Britannia Brewing Steveston, a fantastic brewery and restaurant in the heart of Steveston. This place has so much to offer, from its delicious food and handcrafted beer to its welcoming atmosphere and exceptional service. First, let's talk about the beer. The beer flight's at Britannia Brewing Steveston are a must-try for any beer lover. The flight comes with a variety of samples, each one more delicious than the last. The brewery offers a great selection of brews, from IPAs and stouts to sours and lagers. The beer is always fresh and flavorful, making it the perfect complement to any meal. Speaking of food, the menu at Britannia Brewing Steveston is equally impressive. The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, from classic pub fare like burgers and fries to more sophisticated options like seafood and steak. The food is always fresh and well-prepared, with generous portions and plenty of flavor. The atmosphere at Britannia Brewing Steveston is warm and inviting, with a cozy interior that's perfect for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner for two. The staff is always friendly and attentive, making you feel like a valued guest from the moment you walk in the door. Finally, I have to mention the exceptional service at Britannia Brewing Steveston. The servers are knowledgeable about the menu and beer selection, and they always go above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, you'll feel right at home at this wonderful brewery and restaurant. In summary, if you're looking for a great place to enjoy delicious food and handcrafted beer in a welcoming atmosphere with exceptional service, then Britannia Brewing Steveston is the perfect choice. Don't hesitate to give it a try - you won't be disappointed!

Firstly, I had no idea this was a brewery location. Probably wouldn't have chosen it had I known cos brewpubs aren't generally known for good food. So, that may have been my mistake. Maybe coming here for beer and snacks is the better option, but considering so little in this city is open for breakfast, beggars can't be choosers 🤷‍♀️. Secondly, it smelled mildly like pee where we were sitting. I thought I was crazy at first but it lingered the entire time. I don't know if it was a child, dog, or adult that had an accident but it definitely affected my experience. The food was so incredibly bland. It wasn't cooked poorly, it just had zero flavour. The avocado toast was literally just slices of avo and a few tomatoes and a bit of basil (I asked for no cheese but that shouldn't affect it. Avo toast shouldn't have cheese! It's not some bad Italian food chain bruschetta. The chef seems very confused.) An 8-year-old could have put it together more creatively. No mayo, nothing to lend any flavour or cohesion whatsoever. The home fries... were totally immemorable. I was really hungry though so I suppose the carbs did the job. Coffee tasted a bit burned. Crab cakes were also tasteless, dry, and overcooked. They looked burnt or the oil was old, I don't know. And the portion sizes of everything are small (except you do get a fair amount of plain avocado, I guess) and look small on the giant white plates. The orange juice did not look or taste like fresh pressed. The best part was our server. She was fantastic and this place would have got a lower rating if not for her. I hope they give her all the raises she asks for. She was the only good part of the whole experience. Super friendly, approachable, and attentive but unfortunately couldn't make up for pee smells and bad food.

I recently had the misfortune of celebrating a birthday at what can only be described as a catastrophic restaurant experience. This establishment managed to completely forget our order and turned what should have been a joyous occasion into a nightmare.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with mediocre service and a general lack of enthusiasm from the staff. Nevertheless, we decided to proceed with our celebratory breakfast, hoping that the food would make up for the initial disappointment. Little did we know that we were about to embark on a truly disastrous culinary journey.

After placing our order, we excitedly waited for our meals to arrive. However, minutes turned into an eternity as we watched other tables being served while ours remained untouched. The staff seemed oblivious to our increasingly frustrated glances and failed to provide any explanation or apology for the delay.

As time passed, the atmosphere became increasingly tense. We contemplated leaving, but the prospect of finding another restaurant at such short notice seemed daunting. Instead, we continued to wait, our hopes for a pleasant evening diminishing with each passing minute.

Eventually, our patience wore thin, and we approached the staff to inquire about our order. To our astonishment, they appeared shocked, as if they had forgotten we were even there. Their disorganization and lack of attention to detail were simply inexcusable.

With an air of indifference, they rushed to rectify their mistake. Unfortunately, the food that finally arrived was nothing short of a culinary catastrophe. It was obvious that the kitchen had hurriedly thrown together our dishes without paying any attention to quality or presentation. The flavors were dull, the ingredients were poorly cooked, and the portions were noticeably smaller than expected.

To add insult to injury, not a single staff member made an effort to acknowledge my birthday, even though we had mentioned it at the beginning of the morning. It was as if they couldn't care less about their customers or the special occasions they were supposed to celebrate.

In the end, our experience at this forgetful restaurant was an absolute nightmare. From the moment we walked in until the disappointing food was served, it was clear that the staff lacked basic professionalism, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to provide a satisfactory dining experience.

I strongly advise anyone seeking a memorable celebration to steer clear of this establishment. There are plenty of other restaurants that actually value their customers and understand the importance of special occasions. Spare yourself the disappointment and choose a place where your birthday will be celebrated,...
