The lunch sets were good and sashimi tasted really fresh.. but why I gave one star?? Terrible, terrible service!! Larger groups are not welcome, and they show it to you clearly. We were a group of 6 people, so they said they don't serve groups of more than 5 people. So, we asked for two separate tables. Bear in mind, we showed up at opening time, and the restaurant was practically empty.. even through out our lunch, it was not really busy. The restaurants still had empty tables. They refused to give us two separate tables, I wonder what difference does it make? Let's pretend we split up into two groups and came in separately to ask for a table, and they probably would have gave us the tables, right?? They ended up setting up the table for us anyways; however, the waitress kept hinting to us to quickly eat and get out. Not making this up. I love their food, but hated their service. While we were deciding on what to order, the waitress said out loud "Our lunch sets are the quickest. Just saying, not that you have to order that one." She said the "Quickest", not the "Tastiest".. which implied she wanted us to hurry and eat and get out!. So, beware, if you want to try their food, don't come in bigger groups. If you do, split up and pretend you don't know each other.. maybe you will have a...
Read moreI can't comment on the food since I didn't get welcomed at all in entering the restaurant. I arrived at around 12:55PM on a Sunday and could see a few tables empty from the outside. I attempted to open the door and to my surprise the door was locked. I made eye contact to the server inside who was in the middle of cleaning up a table. After cleaning up the table, I was expecting her to open the door and of course she went back to the kitchen as if there was no one waiting outside. I checked the hour of operation again and it clearly should be operating till 2:00PM. Well. I wish this restaurant go out of business soon since if they believe food catering business is just about serving good food, they are not equiped to operate...
Read moreIf you happen to be in the fishing village of Steveston in Richmond around lunch time, then check out the lunch specials at Shintaro Sushi Japanese Restaurant (3791 Bayview St, Richmond, BC V7E 3B6). I suggest their lunch sets because you get more bang for your buck. (I had the chicken karaage set). However, I highly recommend the lunch specials. We tried the stewed madai (seabream) head set, and it was fresh, savoury and very satisfying!
Good to know: make reservations (to avoid long waits); lunch specials are in limited quantities; they don't accept parties bigger than four; they're only open Thursday to Sunday (11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 5:00...
