I frequent this cafe alone often to study. I usually have pleasant experiences and the food is always great. The owner seems to have an attitude. I went there today by myself and got a table number. I walked around the place and there were tables of 4 and 3 open and a couple tall stools the fron t. Often times I sit at the front cause I can sprawl my school stuff over more space, but the lighting from the window makes it hard to see my laptop and today there were already a couple ppl there so I settled at a table of 3. The owner came up to me abruptly and said “if you’re a table of one, you sit at a table of 2 or near the front. You can’t take up a big table, we have a wait list.” Then she separated a 4 top for me , I understood & and I went to sit there. However, no group was sat at the table I was previously at for quite some time. Then, 3 different tables of one sat at that table (I was there for 3.5 hours) , the last two groups of one the owner sat down and was chatting away for many minutes. I found the way she approached me to be too confrontational, and hypocritical how she treated the people sitting alone there afterwards. In my head good service would be something like “hello, we are so happy to have you here but we just got a rush, & have a table of 3 trying to get a seat, would you mind moving to the front or breaking apart a smaller table so we can seat them here?” Instead of making me feel stupid for doing something and then allowing others to do that same. I also was unaware of a line behind me cause when I ordered there was one...
Read moreI used to frequent d'lish often because I quite enjoyed a bowl of their soup in the evening after work. Today, with the day off, I was able to drop by in the afternoon. I arrived 40 mins earlier than the soup was ready by mistake, so I ordered a drink and treat and sat down to wait. I started a business call online with a client. Part way through, a lady, possibly the owner, came by and very shortly told me I needed to move to the other side of the cafe so my two seater table could be used for lunch rush. I didn't understand since I had also come to get lunch, but I agreed to move to the other side. I explained to my client I'd be back online in a moment. Before I was even done putting away my belongings, they were washing up my table. I went to the other side and saw there were no seats as the lady had said there would be. It felt like she was rude and lying just to get me out of there and I can't understand why. I was tidy and speaking in a quiet tone to my client. There was a lady beside me with a five seat table to herself that had been there longer and was not asked to move/leave. Needless to say, I didn't even bother getting the soup I had came for and this regular won't be returning due to such disrespectful service. This was a true waste of mine and my client's time (who then had to wait for me...
Read moreWe went for a 1:30 Tuesday lunch here based on a recommendation. Street parking was manageable but we did have to park a couple of blocks away. We lined up to place a lunch order. Daily soup and salad options were written on a board and there were small menus on the wall where you line up. You order at the main counter and then try to find a place to sit. There were both inside and outside options although it was quite busy. I ordered the turkey soup and strawberry balsamic salad option and asked if it was all gluten free as “gf” was on the board. The gal said yes but when my plate was delivered it had a bun on it. They sell gf bread etc so I thought it was gf but asked a waitress going by just incase and she said NO it isn’t and brought me a slice of mainly frozen bread no butter or anything and it wasn’t very good so I only had a couple of bites. I am only gluten sensitive so this would not make me sick. If I was celiac, that would not work. The soup and salad were excellent. My husband ordered a roast beef sandwhich and said it was delicious. He also ate my bun! We were given one napkin between us which I thought was odd. The bathroom is hidden and behind the line up of people so not easy to get to. The decor/atmosphere is eclectic and rustic. Service...
