Was this the best Birds Nest I’ve had in Saskatoon? Potentially!
First time coming to FaiFo Concept and the food was EXCELLENT. We ordered:
Fried Spring Rolls: the crisp on these spring rolls was perfect. The “stuffing” was flavorful. Should have ordered another order but we had lots of food coming.
Ginger & Lemon Grass Tea: this was made fresh to order, our server chopping up the lemon grass and ginger fresh. At first I was thinking the tea was taking a while to come out, but when it was delivered to our table, I realized it was because it WAS freshly made with real ingredients, which made me appreciate this drink. The flavour was powerful and exactly what we needed on the cold night.
Shrimp Birds Nest: My god - this dish. It was fantastic. What impressed me the most is the fresh vegetables used on this dish. There is no way that those vegetables were previously frozen, because you would have been able to tell that on the bell peppers used. But they were crunchy (the perfect cook in my opinion). The noodles had an amazing texture and the sauce was fantastic. 11/10.
Spicy Beef Noodle Soup: Although the broth itself wasn’t spicy (in our opinions) the waiter did supply extra chillies to allow for you to self-season it to your liking. But wow, this was great soup. We have enjoyed Pho in many places in Saskatoon, and this was great!
Crispy Wontons: these were on special for $1.95 so we thought we would add them on. The texture was great and were a perfect snacker throughout the meal.
My only feedback for the team here is:
the restaurant wasn’t that busy and there were a few tables left uncleared/dirty. To enhance the feel of the environment, I would try to make sure that table cleanliness is kept up with, especially during slower times.
there was no background music playing. To heighten the ambience, I feel that having some light music playing would have been nice.
Overall. Great experience. We will...
Read moreI came here to eat with my friends after my 9 hours shift. I have already very exhausted after a very long day at work so I just want to enjoy a nice evening to end the day. Little did I know, I would have to wait another hour and a half to eat 🤣 The restaurant have three tables but the wait time uhmmmmm is very questionable. I would understand if the restaurant is packed but seriously there are only three tables but we have to wait so so long for our food to come. Another complain is the restaurant’s manager when the restaurant messed up our bills. When we came to the restaurant to eat, one of our friends accidentally saw her friends also came to the restaurant to eat too but we sit at two different tables. When the girl from the other table came to the register to pay for her bills, she wanted to pay for her whole table. The restaurant’s manager thought (without double checking with our table) that she is also paying for our table too, and calculated the bill for that girl to paid for everyone in our table. When we noticed that they made a mistake, the restaurant’s manager was not very apologetic about their fault and even try to make the blame on us because she “thought” that we are one big friend group. So our evening was ruin just because we decide to come here to eat some food and have a nice time together. Don’t come here if you want to wait for your food and be treated with a rude attitude! Food was okay but is it worth it to wait that long and having to deal with a rude restaurant’s manager?...
Read moreI don't usually leave negative reviews but the state of this place makes it feel warranted. Me and my wife went in for lunch. When we were being sat, the guy working almost sat us at a dirty table with dishes on it until he noticed one of the tables was holding clean items so he moved the stuff off of that table and sat us. Once we were sat, I noticed just how dirty it was in there. He wasn't actually bussing the tables. He was piling them on the bar, so the bar was covered in dirty dishes on top of the unused tables also being covered in dishes. My wife went to put her purse on the ground but it was so dusty that she didn't want to set her purse down. We left because a family of 8 came in and the server asked us to move so he could seat the family. The family looked just as shocked as us as we were walking out. This is a crazy thing to happen for a place that sells cold rolls for 8.50 for two. Luckily we walked out before we could even order. It was really disappointing since there is so many good reviews. Seems like there might have been a management change over with all the bad reviews...
