Did the Wednesday Date Night Dinner and our server was the sweetest! She is very friendly, genuine and answered all of our questions. All of our drinks were beautifully made and well balanced. We were a party of four and did (1) Date Night Dinner which included: salsa trio and chips, green papaya salad, and we chose (2) orders of the Rogue tacos (chef rotating creation) and an order of churros. We also ordered (2) orders of chicken skin chicarrones, (3) fish tacos, (3) pork tacos and (3) shrimp. So the pico de gallo was delicious, but the other two salsas was not our favourite. The Roasted Shishito salsa was really bitter. And the Spicy Peanut one was a nice slow heat, but nothing memorable. The chips were hit and miss with the salt level. And the green papaya salad was…. bland. Of course everyone has their own taste, but when I see a “green papaya salad” on the menu I think of the Thai style, full of chili, salt, sugar and funky fish sauce. The star of the show and what I completely recommend is the chicken skin chicarrones. It came with a honey and Aleppo dip ( I wish that was the dressing on the papaya salad) and were so crispy. We ended up dipping those into the salsa trio too. Churros were hot and fresh and one order comes with (4) churros. The dulce de leche sauce was served warm. I would go to Picaro for the great service, chicharrones and the drinks. Don’t know if I would go back for the tacos or anything else…. Unless they revamp the menu.

5 could be almost a stretch, but Picaro deserves a strong 9/10 and here is why: the interior is cute, it's subtle for a lunch and cute for dining/going out on a date; orange details give the atmosphere some sauce and lights make Picaro Instagram-worthy (talking of light: thankfully to huge windows going out on Idylwild (not the cutest view) give however a massive amount of light into the cafe during the day (selfies are great in there)); service is nice and polite; mood of the place is right on the edge of a bar and an adorable cafe: music, interior, all serves to support this mood; and finally food, oh food in Picaro is incredibly good, it's served cutely(?), tastes like Latin with a twist with all the different sauces and greens they serve something as casual as tacos with (see pictures below). A cute little touch to finish the review: the menu is incredibly detailed with things like "how to eat a taco" step-by-step instruction, Catherine the Great quote, etc, which all makes ordering your meal more fun and (!) provides you with a few icebreakers for your first date 😉

The interior looks great, very nice decorations and it feels bright and spacious. However, it's a pretty loud place, even when it's not fully packed. There aren't a lot of food options and they're quite pricey. Tons of beer and cocktail options. Our party really enjoyed the food but mine wasn't that impressive. My fried tomatillo sandwich was hard to eat - the way it's constructed, toppings either get stuffed into your nose or drip on the plate. Fried tomatillos were greasy, there was 80% batter and 20% of the actual vegetable. Pickled onions tasted fenomenal! Fries were good, not just salted but peppered as well, together with a nice dipping sauce.

Good food. Cool atmosphere. The Horchata with or without booze is AMAZING!! The beef taco is my favorite. The pork taco is also super tasty(super spicy if you leave the peppers on). I recommend going to Picaro between 3-5 for their happy hour. Tacos are $4 each and can be ordered individually so it's perfect if you're wanting to sample a couple different kinds. I liked Picaro when it first opened, but I love it even more now. Their food has definitely improved. the flavours are really delicious. If the "rogue taco" of the day is the chorizo one I highly recommend trying it, I wish this one was permanent on the menu.

Awesome food, friendly staff, a beautiful interior, Picaro is a welcome addition to Saskatoons dining scene. Picaro has a really nice variety of fun tasty Latin dishes. You can tell great care has been put into all the little things, and everything is made from scratch. The tortillas for the tacos were the perfect texture, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. The shishito peppers were a really tasty starter. Don't leave without trying dessert too, churros are the bomb and the chocolate tacos are just plain fun! Go there, eat everything, have a drink and enjoy one of Saskatoons very best restaurants!

The tacos are pretty tasty, had the beef, shrimp and rogue(chefs special- chorizo) Honestly, the beef was a little boring. The house hot sauce is just.... Sorta hot. No real flavour. I did enjoy it, but I wish they had a hard taco shell option. My wife and I ended up making little tacos with the filing from the soft shell by transferring them onto the tortilla chips. That was a pretty nice/fun experiment The restaurant is well decorated. The space is large, yet feels cozy. I will be going back to try the dinner options. Thank you Picaro, you are one of the best options for Latin food in Saskatoon.
