Positively dumbfounded.
I do not imagine that the people who work here have any idea how horrible their food is in comparison to other buffets. While a few of the things they offer are edible and not half-bad, there are a couple of things I would strongly recommend to avoid : The shrimp (especially the deep fried ones. It’s not that they taste bad, it’s that I’m genuinely concerned if they are safe to consume), Same can be said about the spring rolls. I am not a picky eater by any means but they tasted sour and funky.
I am 95% sure that the majority of food is wholesale frozen foods that have been b reheated… and then overcooked. Staff were very helpful though. Obviously I was very frustrated after paying $23.50 for what I would consider to be the same quality as a small town bar. (Their price used to be around $16 dollars which is slightly more reasonable) The attitude was mostly “well, it’s your fault for being here”
Front did make it very clear though that he WOULD have given me free drinks if it wasn’t for the fact that I came at him upset and swore when I got frustrated that he kept repeating “uh-huh” after everything I was saying as if he intended for me to finish speaking and get on.
Let’s be clear: the staff was very informal with how they treated me as a customer, until I had a complaint and decided to confront them. The people there are very fake formal. Formality is used by them, when advantageous, in order to gain superiority over the customer. I came to the restaurant to specifically write a review and my, what an unfortunate day for them. Surely if they had had more experienced customer service they wouldn’t so easily be disgruntled. My interactions made it very clear that the customer is an idiot. I may be stupid on occasion and brash; but I am no idiot.
Really tried to stick me on the point that I was using words like: “bro, and yo” when I was talking to them, but that’s because I was trying to communicate to them as real people before I switched to business. Furthermore, there was a false sense of informality which I believe is to make the customer feel safe to act in a way that can then be used to malign them.
Fortunately I am proficient in multiple forms of communication. Once I changed my posture and demeanour, there was nothing for them to stick me on and so we were equal again.
Kitchen staff and cooks were very unprofessional. Several of them would be chatting around the buffet lines. For a place that claims to be on par with other justifiably pricy buffets, they sure do not act like it.
These people are only connoisseurs of cheapness.
^Keep this in mind if you ever have your own concerns and problems with them^
Deal with them as formally as possible. Very good at judging what type of person you are I.e. how formal you are as an individual. If they can play the formality card, better believe they will. I can not imagine what it would be like trying to get your point across as someone of a lower lower class.
Honestly, the staff needs better customer service. Just look at several of the other reviews and the copy-paste/out of context/shallow responses.
I would not be surprised in the slightest if this ‘restaurant’ was just a front for other endeavours.
Edit: (in response to reply) -I never swore directly at the man
-Abuse is a very heavy statement and if you feel you were abused I advise you to contact the necessary authorities. Let’s not throw around terms loosely.
-If you felt like I was being aggressive and abusive, next time I advise you to contact the police. The reason nothing was done is because you couldn’t do anything. I had a legitimate concern and I was made to feel as an aggressor.
Anybody who has been in an abusive relationship would instantly recognize these manipulation tactics; not that we’re here to discuss individual morality.
Lastly: I do not care whether or not this review is positive or negative. It is my honest experience. Seems strange to meander for good reviews.
But: you are definitely used to...
Read moreBasic, dry Chinese buffet. As of November 25, 2022 their lunch buffet was $15.95, and their dinner $20.95. I came around 3pm and was advised there would be sushi (and roast beef) as an addition to their dinner options. I was set on sushi, so we postponed our meal and I called around 6:30PM to see when they closed. They said last call was 9, so I showed up sometime before 7. There was no sushi and I was advised they would not be making more. The waiter abrasively told us we should have showed up earlier and that we should have called (which we did). The manager was nice enough to offer a discount (never specifying how much) and after the waitress mentioned again we should have called he even pointed out that we had; so we continued our meal. By 8 o’clock a large portion of the deserts offered were gone, and around 8:30 the waiter was coming for us to pay our meals (with a 15% discount). Not terrible, but I mentioned we should have been paying the lunch price, as I’d of rather eaten around then if sushi wasn’t an option (also then the food would have been much fresher and desserts wouldn’t have been gone). She told me to speak to the manager, so I told her I would when we’d finished- but she came back a few minutes later to attempt to have us pay again. I went to the front desk to speak to the manager, expecting to either just pay the lunch price or simply pay with the discount (which 15% I didn’t think was too bad) and he was insulted that I’d even mentioned this, pointing out that only one item was missing and that there was lots of other options (I should mention it wasn’t just one type of sushi offered, it was multiple and it was ALL goneyou would think such a popular item would be restocked). Also the food was dry and clearly sat out for hours, and I never mentioned this until now. I did mention the brownies were gone and he was almost insulting, asking if I came just for the brownies. I didn’t think I was being abrasive to him at the time, so to each their own. I just paid for my table and left.
Overall, wasn’t the best experience for dinner during my visit to Saskatoon. Main point: the food was very basic, simple Chinese buffet style and very dry. Wasn’t worth it to me, I’d rather spend slightly more for better. But if you’re going to come, I recommend around lunch or maybe try the Sunday brunch buffet. Cheaper and probably more fresh, since they don’t replenish their...
Read morei love this place i promote it alot, Out of all Asian Restaurants i choose this place because for the price u get is a good deal and the food has massive amount of portions which keeps getting me back over and over. I still recommend this even if im giving 3/5. What i'm hoping is to change up a little bit of the menu on the Dinner for 1 A and B. Those are my key orders but overtime it does get iffy on the taste. If theres anyway to switch some of the items such as the sweet and sour to something else without the sweet and sour. OR just in general if the Dinner for 1 A and B can be changed to different types of food instead of it being the same always i would love to see different variations of DINNER FOR 1 such as recreating another Dinner for 1 meal.
Last order i had the Rice was not cooked well it seemed the rice was cooked and left on the pan just for 2 minutes because the rice that i had previous orders it was well done and rich with tastyness but this one was "mushy and wet".
Key Components: *add more Dinner for 1 Options having to have order the same thing gets bland over time *Please while recreating a dinner for 1 meal please make a feature on Online Delivery apps to be able to not have sweet and sour sauce(or in general if recreating another Dinner for 1 meal it'll be better to not add the "Sweet and sour pork/chicken)
Things i would love to see: When will great Buffet of China open again?

If your gonna buy food from this place its still a 5/5 i would just love to see different meal types rather than having 2 meals with almost the same items included. Meals are Fresh 5/5. Interaction with the community 10/10. Overall it may somedays have its ups and downs but in the entire city this place is in my top 5.
For Reviewers List of 3 Restaurant i want you to stay away from:
Jasmine Restaurant - Dinner for 1 meals and Up has high MSG and Sodium which results in your body have negative effects
Spring Roll Restaurant - For The Price and including the premium u pay for in SKip NOT WORTH it
Chef Express- Their website offers 15% off but the Food was Delivered Tasted like Plastic, Owner/Delivery Driver was moody like its their time of their moth (Bald Guy it was i think)
