I've never actually had Baskin Robbins ice cream before, and was so excited to try it - especially after reading all the reviews stating "friendly staff" and "great service."
I noted the sign on the door stating no more than 5 people in at a time. I was only able to see to the right and saw one customer. There was a blind spot so I had to open the door to see if anyone else was in there. As soon as I did an older woman (possibly owner?) shouted, rudely, "GET OUT!!!" I imagine due to there being more people in the store - that I could not see until I opened the door. After realizing that's why, I was understanding as this is a tough time for businesses. I patiently waited outside with my husband.
After the customers left, it looked like the woman was sanitizing, so we didn't go in immediately and waited for her to invite us in. She did not. We know she saw us waiting, through the window. So we cautiously walked in. The older man behind the counter didn't greet, he just looked annoyed that I was in there. I said, "hi," and he just stared at me - if looks could kill I'd be dead, haha. I looked at some of the ice cream...and even though it looked so delicious and I was SO excited to try it, we ended up leaving because of the lack of customer service. First of all two white girls (Staff Members) gave us weird looks, then started looking at each other and gave sarcastic smile. They were not at all welcoming. I called in before going there the girl said they close at 9:30. I have been regular to 152st location, have never been treated like that. My husband said thank u nd they didn’t respond started murmuring. The manager should give proper training to staff and if they are ready to great customers happily they should not be working there. We are paying you guys not getting free food atleast serve with smile nd dnt treat brown people like they are not humn being, Have some respect for every customer because your pay cheque comes from their visits, if no customer would come in then how would you get paid. The posted hours on both google & the door clearly said 10 PM, but the staff had already locked the doors nearly 10 minutes early. I pointed to the sign & the time, trying to reason with them kindly, but 1 staff member simply said “no,” twice & the other ignored me completely.
Five minutes later, the owner came out, seen me & asked them several times to open the door.. but they still refused. If my employees ever refused a customer like that, they wouldn’t be working for me. And truthfully, the owner never opened the door either. That kind of customer service speaks volumes.
