I typically don’t make reviews, especially online but after dining at The Pottery in Blue Mountain I thought it was in need of one.
My friend and I decided to meet up for dinner at the village Saturday night. We are locals so we typically do not eat there because it is so busy. There was a huge dance competition going on so we made our way down to the far side of the village and discovered Jozo’s. We sat there for a bit and ordered some drinks. The bartenders were friendly but there wasn’t much going on so we decided to go to the pottery where we could grab some non pub styled food.
This was the cutest place. I had only been in here before to send a bottle of wine to a friends room so we decided to try it for dinner. Although it was not busy we had a great time. We sat right by the fire which was a perfect way to warm up after walking through the village. Our server Andrew was excellent. Polite, professional and gave us lots of good recommendations. We ordered apps first and then dinner, but considering there were only a few other tables both Andrew and the chef timed things perfectly. Just enough time to visit with a friend while dining out and not feeling like we were rushed out the door. We tried the baked Brie and power salad and our server suggested we finish things off with the cheesecake. All were excellent choices.
This restaurant did not disappoint. After being locked down for so long it was a breath of fresh air to experience servers that go above and beyond to provide the customers with a great dining experience.
If you’re looking for a cozy environment, fair pricing at the village, and an accommodating and smiling staff this is the place to try. If I could give it more than a 5...
Read moreWe enjoyed 2 meals at this restaurant during our stay at Blue Mountain. My entire party agreed that the food and overall experience here was excellent. A variety of dishes was ordered for breakfast. The menu had typical breakfast dishes, but this meal stood out to us as being one of the best breakfasts we've had at a restaurant in a while (and no, that's not only because of covid). We had dinner there the same day. We ordered a variety of comfort food: burgers, wings, pasta (after a day of heat and activities, we didn't feel like ordering some of their more refined offerings). Wings were PERFECT. They were exceptionally crispy on the outside and well seasoned. Beyond the skin, the meat was moist flavourful. Easily one of the top 5 wings I've had in my life. The smash burgers had a re-imagined combination of condiments which was a nice change from the typical take on a banquet burger. The burger was juicy with a nice crust. The brioche bun was soft, buttery, and expertly toasted (whoever was working in the kitchen was definitely talented). I'm usually skeptical of restaurants attached to hotels, but this one was an unexpected treat. Of note: we were there with 2 rowdy kindergarten aged kids and 2 screaming infants. We were tired and on vacation, and the restaurant was almost empty, so we were a little more lenient with our kids being rowdy than we normally would be. This obviously is not the ideal situation for the staff of a restaurant, but they did their best to maintain a fine level of customer service and their frustrations did not show. We appreciate the experience provided by this...
Read moreAvoid this place like the plague. I assume most of these reviews on here have to be fakes for it to be 4+ stars. The restaurant is part of a run down building. When we rolled up my family suggested we go somewhere else, but I thought we should give it a try as the reviews were pretty good. Big mistake! The only thing we had that was good was the free bread. Otherwise, you can tell that nearly everything we ordered was pre-made/packaged/frozen food from a Sysco type company. Risotto tasted like it was made from cleaning solution. Pasta tasted like it was cooked in dishwasher. The prime rib was o.k., but the yorkshire pudding was clearly the store bought kind as it tasted freezer burnt. The kids meal fish and chips had clearly pre-fried/cooked fish that was warmed up and the fish was very mushy. (gag). All of this and you are paying high quality restaurant prices. I rarely post reviews but had to in this case to hopefully prevent some other family from falling into this trap! Our party included my wife, three children, mother and sister. We all agreed this was the worst restaurant experience we could ever recall (even when comparing to fast food), and I literally almost felt violated considering the price point. Wouldn't eat here again if they paid me 10 grand...You have...
