This is the only vegan restaurant in Tofino. They mostly serve brunch food, but theyâre currently open later (until 8 pm) Friday and Saturday and serve the same menu all day. I came at 11 on a weekday and it was quiet, but I saw them get very busy at other times. Liseâs benny was delicious! It wasnât a totally conventional combination of ingredients but it all worked together so well. I thought the hollandaise sauce was so good - it was the perfect consistency, no oiliness. The âtofu eggâ was silken tofu with an agedashi-style breading. The breading made it not seem very egg-like to me, but it was good. I loved the spicy chicken nuggets too! I got a side house salad instead of the hashbrowns. The house salad was actually very good and substantial, not just some greens thrown on the plate. I got a golden chai latte to drink. It was made with a golden (turmeric) chai teabag which gave it a more complex flavour than turmeric lattes made with just turmeric. The benny was $20 and the latte was $6.5 (obviously with no alt milk charge). These were some of the most reasonable prices I experienced in Tofino, especially for a full service restaurant and considering the complexity of the dish. My waitress always came by at the right time and was very friendly. I came back later to just buy a sticker (saw they had stickers and meant to get one when I was there for brunch but just forgot), and the person who helped me then was...
Read moreI don't usually give negative reviews to vegan restaurants because I'm happy those place exist, but in this case I can't say that. It was the worst vegan meal I've had and I feel like this place is a shame for vegan cuisine. I got French dip, which was a bad choice, and the lava cake. The "burger" had nothing to do with a burger, it was just a cheap bread with oil-soaked mushrooms, onions that had nothing to do with caramelized onions, and bit of cheese. This is something I would make as an emergency meal when there's nothing in the fridge, except it would taste better. The fries were undercooked and tasted like days old. The lava cake was ok but not great, looked and tasted like one of those treats you can buy in a grocery store. It appears to me that the owner just takes the cheapest ingredients, puts minimum effort in the cooking and sells it for Tofino prices. Even the Oreo dessert - take the cheapest cookie, deep-fry it and here we go. The food just make me sick and it was waste of money, I could have prepped something better on my camping one-burner. Hopefully I just made a bad choice from the menu and the rest is not as bad and it won't discourage people from trying out vegan food. The staff was great though and I liked the atmosphere...
Read moreAmazing vegan restaurant!! Me and my partner brought some friends with us to Bravocados, first time trying out most of the items on the fall menu! The Curry bao buns were my favourite, but she preferred the General Tso ones! Cannot go wrong with a side order of cauliflower wings, they are the best in town, period!!! Then we tried the French dip, a decadent mushroom sandwich it was absolutely banging. Then we had the Tsalmon bowl, which was unbelievable, having been a vegan for 4 years, I have NEVER come across a salmon imitation that was so on point, the flavors and even the color of the marinated tofu made it look like it was an actual filet of salmon, it was UNCANNY. Then finished up with some deep fried oreos, simple yet amazing. Also of all the places to get a drink in town, Bravocados has in my opinion the best selection of drinks, beer from all around BC with some great variety. The chef, cooks and servers are absolutely delicious, just like the food, friendly and always smiling! 420/10 would recommend! Do yourself a favor and walk down...
