The building is beautiful, and the interior is very eclectic in it's decoration. A gentlemen named Ron greeted us at the doors, he was somewhat strange, and definitely put off a weird vibe. We had to wait for a table outside for a short time, this being due to covid restrictions and staffing shortages. Once a table was ready for us, we were informed with a finger wave and a stern "You two, let's go" from Ron (the owner?). Our sever was nice enough, though she did not introduce herself. We didn't have to wait long for our drinks, and our food came out relatively quickly, considering there was only one sushi chef working as the other two chefs had either "broken their arm" or been too "beat up" from the previous days service, as Ron had put it. The sushi was nothing special, that isn't to say it wasn't well prepared and tasty, but there certainly wasn't anything on the menu to set this establishment apart from any other sushi restaurant. The dessert offerings were mainly made up of preformed ice creams that you could clearly tell came out of a box. The prices seemed pretty standard for a mediocre sushi restaurant and we weren't upset when we received our bill. All in all, this place was worth visiting, if you REALLY REALLY want some sushi in Tofino, otherwise, I'd recommend skipping this place and trying a pie from Pizzamotto, just a short walk away. I don't regret visiting this establishment, but I certainly won't be returning.

I've never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant. Before we even stepped inside, the host abruptly blocked us and said this "wasn't a pub" and that we needed to get food if we wanted to enter. He could have been polite about that policy, but instead took a rude tone and treated us like troublemakers right off the bat. We were pretty surprised and offended. When I calmly said we'd have been willing to have food, but wouldn't now that we'd been made to feel unwelcome, that set him off. He went on a crazy tirade yelling at us in front of other customers and telling us how "delicate" we were for being so easily hurt. I was worried he would escalate even further, so we walked away. I'm truly shocked this place manages to stay open with such disrespectulful service. Never again.

So happy we chose to eat here on our last night in Tofino! Our 3 boys got to try sushi for the first time and we sat on their wonderful patio overlooking the water, mountains and Harbour! Even our dog was accomodated and the waitress made sure to bring her water right away! The Smiling Buddha (picture in review) and Hollywood North Roll were our favorites! This place should have a rating in the mid 4's (at least!!). You will see most of the bad reviews are about Ron, who is a wonderful person but puts up with no nonsense! He was personable to my children, told me a bit about his story, and is a wonderful guy! Don't go with an ego and you will have an awesome experience!

Phenomenal Exoerience! On a whim, I chose to head into Tuff City Sushi for dinner upon completion of a training course. It was a tough toss-up between watching Stanley Cup Final Game 5 or having a nice dinner. And although I am certain that It would have been brilliant to spectate the intense hockey matchup, I am certain that I made the right choice in dining out instead!

From the outset, I was made to feel very welcome by Tabitha who greeted me at the door and who immediately made me feel at home. She led me to a table on the terrasse which boasted an absolutely GLORIOUS view of the water and of the mountains.

The menu has ample options to choose from. Tabitha, who also ended up being the server who took care of me demonstrated exceptional product knowledge and I felt extremely confident in accepting her recommendations.

The food was presented in a very timely manner and expertly crafted and prepared by the gregarious chefs who had also offered a warm welcome when i initially entered the dining room. The portions were very generous and the quality and freshness of the product were fist-class.

Tabitha was extremely attentive and made regular appearances at my table to ensure that I was having a perfect experience. Her actions and her words made me feel valued. She even anticipated my needs and brought me a blanket and tried to show this helpless character how to use chopsticks. Still I ended up needing a fork but that was my fault rather than hers!

The views from the patio are spectacular! It all came together: food, service, and ambience. I would assign a score of 10/10 to this place without reservation. Thank you, Tabitha...

We had a very intense interaction with one of the employees at this restaurant tonight. Our family of 4 came to the door and complied with the signage which directed us to sanitize and then write down our name on their contact tracing sheet. We waited a few minutes with no sign of staff so I took a step inside. While I was waiting just on the inside of the door a white haired man came rushing towards me yelling that I was to wait outside. I immediately took a step back to wait. He then ranted at us that the signage told us to wait outside (it did not) that there was global pandemic and essentially told us that we should know better. I am not exaggerating when I say he was yelling. I responded that I also work in a restaurant and these were not the policies that all restaurants adhere to. He told us to go away and he wasn’t going to serve us. No problem, we lost our appetite for Tuff City Sushi upon our first interaction with this guy. I know as well as anyone that it is a trying time to work with the public but this level of aggression is totally unacceptable no matter what the state...
