Ono Poke Bar delivers to it's full extent. The special thing about Ono's Poke Bar is that they have torched salmon and torched tuna on their menu. As a fan of torched sushi, of course, I ordered the 'Ono' Torched Salmon poke bowl.
Surprisingly, when the employee first took the empty clear plastic bowl up, I was shocked of how big the bowl itself was. Other poke places that I have been to don't have such a big bowl and I knew I was in for a treat. The employee put in masago, tamago, a big lump of avocado, carrot, corn, edamame, green onion, tenkasu, fried onion, furikake and topped it off with the torched salmon and wasabi mayo.
After all that, I was ready to dig in. The poke bowl looks very appealing in terms of looks. After my first bite, I thought it was fantastic. All the ingredients compliment each other very well as the texture and taste were great. I am not a huge fan of wasabi in general so I thought the wasabi mayo overpowered much of the flavour of the bowl. Next time, I'll ask them to put less wasabi mayo. However, if you are a fan of wasabi, you would love it. The decor is nice with the limited amount of space they have. They also have a patio so you can enjoy your poke in the great outdoors.
I definitely will come back to try the 'Ono' Torched Tuna poke bowl and maybe one day a sushi burrito but my love for poke bowls grew stronger after eating at...
Read moreAfter years of disappointing service, this week was the final straw.
As the only poke spot in Liberty, we’ve given this place more chances than we should have. The food is okay, portions seem bigger than they are because of the hefty rice base (rather than toppings), and we stopped ordering seafood because it often looked gross, grey, tasted fishy and not fresh.
The bigger issue is the customer service: staff rarely greet customers, ignore allergy notes, add ingredients that weren’t requested, and I’ve even shown up for Ritual pickups (for orders that were accepted and paid for) during open hours only to find the store closed.
This week we placed an order through Uber Eats. 40mins later, our driver messaged us saying the employee refused to finish our order before serving walk-ins and was being extremely rude. When he finally arrived, very visibly shaken, he said he had never been treated so poorly by a restaurant in 26,000+ deliveries.
If you can’t manage both walk-ins and online orders with one staff member, don’t accept online orders- and definitely don’t take it out on customers or drivers. We’re done supporting a restaurant that doesn’t seem to care about quality, food safety or...
Read moreCame on a Monday and ordered their daily special (classic salmon) as well as the eel bowl for take-out. Both came with a free pop. The bowls are pretty big in my opinion and they secured it with elastic bands to make sure the lids stayed on (wasn’t closed shut since it was hot). Staff was friendly and was in the middle of restocking/prep since it wasn’t busy.
Super filling bowls. Lots of rice, only thing I didn’t like was that the rice was hot; would prefer a room temp/cooler rice. Both bowls were good, toppings were yummy and had enough to balance the rice ratio. The salmon bowl was a bit too saucy for me personally but good regardless. In terms of freshness, I’ve definitely had bowls with fresher salmon but it wasn’t BAD, not too salty either (despite it being so saucy). The eel was good, at first thought there wouldn’t be enough sauce to mix the rice with but it turned out fine. Overall, both were good but think the hot rice ruined it a bit for us PERSONALLY because would have been more refreshing if it was cooler.
Would probably come back to try the...
