Read moreAmal is a modern Lebanese culinary experience tucked away on the 2nd floor at 131 Bloor Street W. It was a little tricky to find at first since the signage isn’t very prominent, and we walked right past the building and had to look up the address again and swing back. We visited for Sunday brunch around noon, and even though the place was busy, we were able to walk in and get a table without waiting.
We tried the Amal’s Breakfast ($25), which came with eggs (I had mine over easy), beef bacon, makanek (spiced Lebanese sausages), home potatoes, and cherry tomatoes. The dish was hearty, fresh, and well-seasoned. We also had the House Pancakes ($19), which were thick, fluffy, and topped with orange blossom chantilly, maple syrup, pomegranate, orange and mint accents. The pomegranate and orange were more decorative than functional, so you didn’t get them in every bite, but the pancakes themselves were thick, fluffy and satisfying.
Our coffees were well-prepared, and everything was served quickly. The space itself is bright, modern, and beautifully designed, creating a warm yet stylish brunch atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience pleasant. The food is fresh and delicious, though not necessarily extraordinary—but it is good value for what you get. Amal seems like a great spot for brunch with friends or a casual weekend treat, and I’d be curious to try their dinner menu next to experience more of their modern Lebanese offerings.

Read more5th time visiting and my rating stands at 4.85/5... Amal never fails. Its by far one of Toronto's most consistent restaurant and well deserving of the michellin stars they have earned. I like to consider myself a pretty big foodie and i have to say the food at Amal is fantastic. We started with the sampler for our app along with tabbouleh salad. Sampler consist of three dips and the baked bread + pita. The baked bread is out of this world. For the sampler we chose the hummus, the muhammara and the labneh. All 3 were the best ive ever had from any middle eastern restaurant. The salad was so fresh and i highly recommend it if you like salads. For the main course we ordered chicken tawook skewer along with lamb chops. The chicken was perfectly cooked. Beautifully chared on the outside, cooked to perfection on the inside. Nice juicy chicken breast that could not be cooked any better in my opinion. The lamb chops could use some more salt for flavoring and they should come cut into 4 pieces as opposed to 2 big pieces so its easier. They dont cut it into 4 pieces but they do give you a knife if you would like to cut it into 4. However our waiter was amazing and cut it table side for us. I recommend a medium well cook on the lamb as they do cook their lamb a bit under what you ask for. We had sides with our meal and they were pretty good as well, the fries could use a little work but were still good, the rice was really good. Now that ive raved about the food let me tell you about the service at Amal. 10/10 service. From the reservation desk to walking out the restaurant post meal. They do not miss. The table is attended to by everyone, different servers, managers, gms, bar crew and anyone else thats there. Geniune care and service. Fantastic job for everyone that works there, you really know how to provide great service. Now for the atmoshphere and decor of the place, words truly can not do the interior decorating justice. This place is gorgeous and it is a must visit. From the little things like the fingerling potatos that come with the lamb to the service and the food, nothing here misses. They even went out of their way to bring us chillies to the table because we asked for spicy and they told us they cannot do it but still brought out sonething they thought would help make our experience better. If you have not tried Amal you are missing out. This place is a gem in Toronto. 4.85 and not a 5 because the lamb could be cooked better and seasoned better, the fries could be better, and a little spice accomadation wpuld have this place at a 5.
