Annex Social — Restaurant in Toronto

Came here with some co-workers for dinner and the majority of us were not terribly impressed. We made reservations and had an "early" (I say early because by the time we left there were more patrons as it seemed more like a bar than a restaurant) dinner start at 5:15. With the exception of a few tables on the patio, we were really the only ones there initially. Two of our party arrived late and were not served menus or water glasses. Our party asked for 2 more glasses and water but it never came. One of us had to go to the bar to get them. By the time the waitress came to take our drink order, we already knew what we wanted for food. During the majority of our waiting, there was someone pounding away on furniture with a hammer and staple gun. Why repairing or reupholstering furniture at dinner time on a Friday night was a priority I don't know but it was distracting to our conversation.

Service took a very long time for everything, drinks, food, bill etc. We had another venue to get to by 7 and we had to push our arrival back by 45 minutes because everything took so long.

Most of us got the fish and chips and it looked nice and crispy. Sadly, I did not or my food rating might have been higher. I'm not a spice person so opted out of the spicy additions to the house nachos. My nachos came out cold and were quite disappointing.

The others at the table agreed that while it wasn't terrible, they'd be hard pressed to find a reason to return. Since the majority of the reviews here are very positive, perhaps it was just...

The food looked 5 star, but I wouldn’t know because I didn’t have time to eat it due to the abysmal service. My partner and I ate there last night. There were five other people in the restaurant when we arrived and when we left. We were not properly informed about the specials. Our server forgot my drink order. She forgot the side I requested. She forgot to put our food order in for 25 minutes (so, our food took 45 mins to arrive). Then, she charged us full price for the special. This was THE BEST dinner I have ever had, I had nachos and a salad while my friend ordered the burger and fries. We will never go to another place and be as satisfied as we were here! The staff was amazing, our order was taken immediately and our food was ready within 10 minutes after we ordered. It’s such a good environment (my friend has social anxiety) and the waiters made us feel like we had been there a million times even though it was the first time, I have never had such a good experience eating out, 10/10 definitely go here if you’re looking to...
