Ariete e Toro is a true gemâa quaint sandwich shop that proves less is often more. The design is simple and elegant, creating a pleasant, uncluttered atmosphere that's perfect for a quick, satisfying visit.
The focus here is clearly on high-quality, Italian-inspired sandwiches, and it shows. I was particularly impressed with the sourcing of the meats, with fantastic Salamis from various Italian regions and excellent selections from local Ontario producers. This commitment to quality elevates the entire menu, which ranges from staples like Mortadella and porchetta to unique options like smoked turkey. The option to create your own sandwich is a fantastic, customer-friendly feature that I truly appreciated and is a welcome difference from other spots.
On my recent visit, I tried the Enzo MalvagioâMortadella, pesto Calabrese, Stracciatella cheese, and fresh basilâand it was delicious, well-made, and light. The pesto Calabrese added a perfect, subtle spiciness that tied the whole sandwich together. Overall, the high quality of the ingredients translates into a truly enjoyable eating experience.
Constructive Notes on Presentation Ariete e Toro excels in almost every way, and I have just a couple of small, constructive observations that could enhance efficiency and the dining-in experience.
The sandwiches are presented in beautifully crafted boxes, which is an attractive, high-end touch. However, since many of these boxes end up being discarded in-house, perhaps they could be reserved exclusively for takeout orders. This might be a simple way to reduce waste in the dining area without sacrificing the elegant presentation for customers on the go.
For those dining in, an optional, small tweak for easier consumption would be to cut the sandwiches in half.
In summary, Ariete e Toro offers delicious, high-quality sandwiches in a beautiful setting and is a worthwhile stop for any Italian sandwich enthusiast. I highly recommend giving...
Read moreAfter I came back from epic Italy trip( Rome+Tuscany), I was craving for Italian style sandwiches and this fairly new sandwich store really excited me.
It was small cute take-out-only shop, tucked in the side road, 5 min walk from Eglinton station. Think they had a space for potential small patio outside.
Took my sandwich to nearby park at Castlefield ave. I saw one lady who was eating the sandwich on the bench along Yonge. (Their takeout box stands out and she was eating out of the same cute box)
â Excellent motadella from Verona. Loved thinly sliced generous amount of layers â Strong basil & garlic flavor pesto which I loved. Was very fresh! â Crunchy pistachio đ on top of creamy straciatella â It is a big sandwich & all the ingredients were super fresh! đđŒ Found $19.21( tax incl.)to be very resonable price. I had unfinished half sandwich later on.
It was the combination that I missed the most from the sandwich I had in Italy.
My sandwich was made to order, picked up by me( not by Ubereats) and I started eating in less than 10 min. Bread was very fresh & soft. My only complaint was I wished Schiacciata bread was a bit more crunchy outside and thinner. As far as I know that is how we can diffferentiate schicciata from foccacia.
I have searched for better schiccia bread since this visit, however I could not find anywhere else in Toronto that showed up in my search. Maybe next time I should bring sandwich home and toast it myself to make it...
Read moreFood This Italian sandwich shop went viral on TikTok and other social platforms, and it definitely lives up to the hype. The sandwiches are huge, easily shareable, and absolutely delicious. My friend and I both agreed that the bread was the standoutâit really brought everything together. The ingredients were evenly layered, and the flavors blended perfectly for a satisfying bite. Plus, the packaging was solidâit survived a subway, bus, and walk home without falling apart. We tried the Enzo and the San Lazzaro, they both were fantastic.
Service I placed my order through Uber Eats to skip the line, thinking 10 minutes ahead would be enough, but 20 minutes wouldâve been better. There's definitely a crowd right now. But who knows how long the rush will last. I do wish there was a display or screen outside to show which orders were ready for pickup. That wouldâve made things smoother. That said, the staff were great. They were friendly, professional, and clearly working hard. They had a steady rhythm going, churning out sandwiches non-stop.
Ambiance The interior is bright, modern, and inviting, with stylish Italian touches and even a few items for sale. Thereâs a small indoor waiting area, but when it gets busy, youâll likely be waiting outside, which isnât ideal in the colder months. Just be prepared for that. Itâs located near Eglinton station, though not the most accessible spot. Still, if youâre in the area, itâs absolutely worth...
