Pretty terrible food, to be honest.
Tried their burger and chicken sandwiches on different occasions.
One of the two times they confused my order with someone else's and I ended up waiting something like 25 minutes for takeout.
I like healthy and some would say bland food, such as Fresh down the other end of the street which is totally vegan, but when I go to a place that touts healthy food and charges $23 before tax for it, I expect it to be curated in such a way that it is still delicious and flavorful, just within the parameters of the mission statement.
This experience was the opposite of my expectations.
I get it, salt is unhealthy. You can easily control the amount of salt you put into a dish by not using processed foods or ingredients. I'm totally cool with just a salt and pepper to highlight some grass fed meaty flavors.
However, making your goal a flavorless, dry hunk of protein (great grill lines, though) is NOT what I'm paying someone for.
I'm expecting to make the healthy food also taste great, not okay, not passable, not bland or mediocore, but great.
Otherwise I can totally achieve a baked chicken breast and steamed vegetables at home for 1/10th of the cost, but I'm literally paying someone to do it well for me instead.
This is usually achievable by a selection of different flavors or ingredients, but what does one of their sandwiches taste like?
Bread, whole wheat bread. Just bread. There were a few hot peppers or something in there, but that was the extent of anything with flavor.
There is no balance or highlighting of flavors, which is the staple of a subtle culinary experience like the one they seem to be set out to achieve, and it is just not present here.
The execution is so startlingly lacking I can only assume this place is basically operates only because of some hypebeast marketing rather than actual return customers.
I'm specifically telling people not to go here, there is nothing that justifies this cost for what you get.
In truth, I think it's just a lazy called-in attempt to overcharge people for "healthy" food with an ambivalent and out of touch approach.
Cynically, it seems the real product they focused on here is offering an air of moral superiority, their mission is pretty solid don't get me wrong - but it certainly does not make up for the distinct lack of the culinary experience and it is kind of an insult to the customer because it seems they are leveraging the desire to act ethically to make...
Read moreImpact Kitchen is next level incredible. I have been a long time, loyal repeat indulger of theirs since they opened and launched their King East location over 10 years ago. I have to say the menu offerings are outstanding - as a seasoned Food Industry Executive, with over 2 decades of working in the the food industry and a fellow foodie, who lives a lifestyle to fuel, heal and nourish my and my Family's body's, based on the season of life we're in, they have nailed the impeccable sourcing of clean, local, high-quality ingredients for all of their menu offerings. The attention to detail in their sourcing of ingredients, while supporting fellow local businesses, is another of the many reasons I keep coming back and remain loyal to this establishment.
I have to shout out to the 2555 Yonge Street location specifically because the Staff here are the icing on the cake for this Company. From Gemima their Manager, to all of the warm and friendly Staff at this location, they have welcomed my family since opening only a few short months ago in our hood, and many of my referred extended friends and family, into this location like we are a part of the Impact Family. They fuel us and take such good care of us at each and every visit. We lean on them as our go to "make-shift meal service" that I pick up freshly curated every other day for my Family. Their attention to detail, the extra doses of care invested and just overall kindness that they bring to our day, really warms our hearts and adds a ln extra sprint to our step.
As we know, there's much going on in the world right now. We all need more kindness in our lives and in the world, so if you are looking for that pick me up or an extra spring in your step, along with a nourishing meal sourced locally and made with love, I highly recommend hitting up this location. From the Staff, the no shortage of deeelish food and menu offerings, (which by the way, they just launched a bunch of new offerings today - we're all very excited in our home!), will definitely bring a smile, a warm heart, as well as a nourished belly, before you walk out the door!
Thank you to ALL of you for welcoming us into your nourishing home and fueling our family's and friends bodies, each and every day for over a decade...
Read moreI had an extremely disappointing experience at Impact Kitchen when I visited for a quick coffee and breakfast. I brought my 3 lb Yorkie, who is a certified service animal, and was immediately questioned about it at the counter. I provided documentation, yet despite complying with the law, we were still discriminated against and made to feel unwelcome.
First, when I asked for a takeout container for water for my dog, they refused with a vague excuse. Then, in the middle of eating, staff approached us and told us my service animal couldn’t sit next to me, even though she was silent, well-behaved, and not disturbing anyone. This interfered with my ability to enjoy my meal and ultimately forced us to leave, upset and unable to finish our food.
This is a clear violation of Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Human Rights Code, which state that service animals must be allowed to accompany their handlers in public spaces, including restaurants. Under the law, businesses cannot demand unnecessary proof or impose restrictions that interfere with the person’s ability to access goods and services. Emotional support animals may not have the same protections, but a trained service animal cannot be refused or treated unfairly.
On top of the awful treatment, the food itself was subpar—the pancakes were dry, the cookie was nothing special, and the overall experience was not worth the stress. If you are a person who relies on a service animal, I strongly suggest avoiding this place, as they do not respect accessibility laws or the basic rights of their customers.
Also should mention that we walked down the street and stumbled upon a Parisian cafe and had to order again to actually enjoy our time together and not get harassed. They were so welcoming and really think the management team needs to learn a thing or two from them… instead of hiding behind an iPad and coming to harass us every time we tried to take a bite of...
