I was impressed with the location off of Yonge St., the decor, cafe' layout, background music, and selection. So, I was prepared to give them a 5 star rating until I ordered my cappucino. Get ready for this...
I asked if they serve in a ceramic cup, and they said yes. I said, 'Great, I just left the cafe' nearby because they only have paper cups, and the taste isn't the same."
Two minutes later, my order awaits at the counter in a paper cup. Apparently, they misunderstood me. Though they are lighter Asians, they do speak English well enough to understand English. However, they don't seem to understand well enough to grasp my explanation of why having my cappucino in a ceramic cup is important to me.
She very graciously offered to make me a new one, but her attitude didn't match her gesture. It was a perfect opportunity for her to better understand the needs and preferences of a potential return customer who spends thousands of dollars a year at Toronto cafes. I didn't sense she cared about or understood the opportunity.
What really made it worse were two important things. Look at the pic of the curly hair on the condiment station counter next to the stain. Yikes! In the time I spent there for my meeting, not once was it wiped down.
Then, to top it off, they mixed sugar into their chocolate powder as depicted in the pic I added. Im not sure if they did this to save on the cost of the chocolate powder, but it is not a good practice. Especially for those customers that don't want dugar in their coffee.
It is for these reasons that I regrettably find it necessary to...
Read moreRude terrible hostile service. Asked to leave right after purchasing food. Reading the reviews below, other customers have also been subjected to equally militant behaviour.
Bought lunch from this Cafe on this Sunday Morning for myself and my fiancé. Went to eat it on the single street side patio. After being there for 10 minutes, we were asked to leave because “the table is for customers only”. I was shocked. I advised that I had just purchased food inside. The clerk pointed to a small coffee in my hand stating “we don’t allow outside food”. This was the same person who sold me the food I was about to eat. Whether this is actually their policy it is poor customer service to essentially kick out a customer who has just purchased lunch for two from you. It shows a complete disregard for their customers and clear priority to ensure they squeeze every last dollar from you.
I had learned of this Cafe on Uber Eats…often ordering lunch from there for myself and my fiancé while I worked from home. I will never be returning or patronizing this establishment. Truthfully their products are often stale and not authentic to begin with. I would recommend Jules Cafe Patisserie at 617 Mount Pleasant Road, or Thobors Bakery at 627 Mount Pleasant Road. Authentic French baked goods and staff. Exceptional customer service and focused atmosphere. You won’t...
Read moreI recently visited this coffee shop in Toronto and, unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. I ordered a London Fog, but it lacked flavor and felt very underwhelming.
Upon arrival, I noticed there were no coffee condiments like powdered chocolate or cinnamon available at the counter, which is usually a standard offering in most coffee shops.
The staff seemed disengaged, almost as if they were intentionally minding their own business. It took about five minutes for someone to even acknowledge me and take my order, despite me being the only customer waiting. After placing my order, it still took around ten minutes to receive my drink, which felt excessive given the lack of other customers.
When I finally got my drink, I sat on a couch that had no signs indicating it was off-limits. However, a staff member approached me and rudely informed me that I couldn’t sit there. While I understand if certain seating areas are reserved or restricted, clear signage would have avoided this awkward interaction.
Overall, the service was unwelcoming, and the atmosphere felt poorly managed. Unfortunately, this isn’t a place I’d visit again or...
