A new cocktail bar on King Street East in Old Town Toronto that you have to visit! 🍸🍹🥃🍷
Bar Ardo is a beautiful new cocktail bar and the menu is curated by Chef Roberto Marotta from Sicily, who is a Michelin recognized chef for Ardo Restaurant located a block away on King Street
We were there for DJ Thursday and just love the soft jazz and the chic vibe at Bar Ardo. It’s a great lounge for a special date night or to chill with some friends 🎶
The Italian Sicilian inspired menu is simply fantastic. We are here to try chefs new late night features. The small plates are actually quite generous and perfect for sharing. Everything was simply delicious but some of my faves has to be the Battuto Di Manzo a very well seasoned seared beef tartare, the Scallop Capesante and The Mussels. We also had fresh East Coast Oysters and Blue Fin Tuna Tartare both were so tasty. Each dish was beautifully presented.
The carefully crafted cocktails are exquisite and sexy. I had to try Carla Carla, a smooth vodka served wth a spoon of caviar… so luxurious!! They have an amazing Cafe E OLIO … their version of Espresso Martini. The Pina (the pretty pink drink) a smooth Bulleit Burbon with egg white was another favourite cocktail of the night.
For the next round, we ended the evening with a few mocktails and they are tantalizing. The Lemon Spritz was refreshing, along with Mockarita and Cosmo.
I highly recommend you try this place. The service here is top notch! I definitely want to go back to try the pastas next time 🍷❤️
Don’t miss out on DJ Thursday’s and try the new LATE NIGHT MENU from 8 pm to late!!

Read moreIt looked like a nice place in our neighborhood, so we came here to celebrate my birthday (which was noted in our reservation) however, it didn’t meet our expectations in alot of different ways.
The positives: the decoration, music, and cocktails were great.
The things that didn’t go as well: a lot of the food is subpar in pretty clothing. Everything is quite overpriced once you consider what you’re getting. Cetriolo is just hummus with cucumber. Cariciofo (while tasty) is just 2 segments of artichoke. We also ordered the beef tartare.
That one was the worst of all. It looked like a chewed up steak. It lacked flavour. It was grey, and parts were quite dry and chewy. We just couldn’t continue our dinner there anymore.
We mentioned the Cetriolo was overly salty, so they remade it, but the rest of the meal… we tried to keep a positive attitude but it just wasn’t worth it.
Our server was nice but would check in on us every 5 minutes. It wasn’t a busy restaurant when we were there, but both my husband and I felt like we kept getting interrupted and forgot our train of thought.
Ultimately, as mentioned before, we were celebrating my birthday. Which they did know about. However, didn’t make any gestures or to even wish me a happy birthday.
We had really hoped to find a new watering hole for us that’s in the neighborhood, but unfortunately, our experience just wasn’t good!
Bar Ardo’s cocktails were great though. That was the only redeeming quality. I hope they improve on basically...

Our night at Bar Ardo got off to a rough start. From the moment we were seated, our server greeted us with an indifferent attitude, as if she wasn’t happy to be there. A warm welcome goes a long way, but unfortunately, that was missing.
Service was painfully slow. While I understand that it was Valentine’s Day, the restaurant should have anticipated the crowd and staffed accordingly. Waiting excessively long for our food made the experience even more frustrating.
The atmosphere was not ideal either. The restaurant was uncomfortably warm, the music was too loud, and the tables were spaced too closely together, making it difficult to have a conversation.
As for the food, it was a mixed bag. The ham and cheese appetizer was delicious, but the rest of the dishes lacked flavor. The steak was cooked medium well, despite us not being asked about our preferred doneness—most places default to medium rare, so this was disappointing. Desserts were also underwhelming; the gelato was icy rather than smooth, and the tiramisu was overly sweet.
The biggest letdown, however, was the service. The female server with ginger curly hair had a poor attitude that made the entire experience unpleasant. Front-of-house staff should enhance the dining experience, not detract from it.
Overall, Bar Ardo failed to impress on food, service, and ambiance. With so many great dining options in the city, I wouldn’t return—especially when...
