Bar Sous Sol — Restaurant in Toronto

We made a reservation at Bar Sous Sol and the staff told us reservation will be ready in 40 minutes. We walked back in forth in the rain to our car and waited. Once we came back on our reservation time, they told us the owner of Bar Sous Sol decided to come with his guests and the reservations was not available anymore... they did not call us to even notify us of this. They just cancelled for the owner and had people wait for no reason. Long wait for a kitschy french absinthe bar. Felt like I was on an amusement park ride by the way we were lead down the stairs and through a concealed door. The stink from the bathrooms made it very difficult warm up to the space and to our drinks. The bar staff were irritable and unpleasant to interact with (can't blame them though, it was busy and miserable in there). We eventually were forced to leave after staying for 30 mins since we weren't ordering more drinks - short spell at the Sous Sol theme ride. Trick people you don't like...

I love it here. We come early, shortly after they open and get most of the bar to ourself. The bartenders have a chance to talk us through some menu items before it gets busy.

Cocktails are always fabulous, well balanced and full of complex flavour.
