Birria Catrina — Restaurant in Toronto

The 214 Augusta Ave location is the only one that shows up on Google Maps for Kensington. This location has a large banner outside with a QR code that lets you pre-pay and order online. We placed our order at 2:17pm, with an estimated pickup time of 2:32pm.

When we arrived at 2:32pm and showed the order confirmation at the counter, the staff told us they don’t do online orders. He asked to see the pickup location and then directed us to another store at 267 Augusta down the street. It was confusing to see such a prominent banner for online orders at a location that doesn’t actually fulfill them.

We walked to 267 Augusta, which isn’t even listed on Google Maps. When we showed the staff our order confirmation, the girl at the counter seemed unsure and asked if we had checked with the other location. We explained that we had, and that their staff sent us here. The lack of communication between the two locations was frustrating.

She eventually checked her iPad, found my order under my name, and asked for five minutes to prepare it, even though our pickup time had already passed. The store was empty at the time, but our food still took fifteen minutes past our pickup time to be ready.

The gringa and tacos themselves were fine, but the confusion between the two locations and the lack of coordination left a bad impression. It may not be an issue in the future now that I know where to go, but as a first-time customer, the process was frustrating. Improving communication and consistency across locations would go a long way in creating a better...

Quite disappointed today with Birria Catrina. All the tacos were soggy and ripped/broke. It was nothing like the ones I had a few days ago where the shells were toasty and crispy. My original rating was a solid 4/5 but today was a very sad 2/5.

IVE BEEN CRAVING BIRRIA TACOS, SO WE FINALLY GOT TO CHECK OUT BIRRIA CANTRINA! PLEASE NOTE THAT THEY ARE LOCATED INSIDE THE BUILDING W.MULTIPLE BUSINESSES ONSITE. YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE VERY BACK RIGHT SIDE.

THEIR BIRRIA TACOS ARE PULLED PORK W.CHOPPED CILANTROS, DICED FRESH WHITE ONIONS, 2 CORN TORTILLAS - GRILLED TO A CRISPY PERFECTION! SQUEEZE A LITTLE FRESH LIME AND HOT SAUCE (NOT SURE IF ITS THEIR HOT SAUCE BUT IT WAS TASTY! A NICE FLAVOUR BOOST!) HOWEVER, IVE HAD BIRRIA TACOS WHEN I VISITED MEXICO AND THE USA, AND I FOUND THE SLIGHT LACK IN SPICES/FLAVOURS/PINCH OF SALT TO ROUND EVERYTHING OUT. REGARDLESS, THEY WERE REALLY GOOD!

SERVICE WAS QUICK, FRIENDLY AND THEY HAVE COVID SAFETY...

Second time I’m here and last. First time were here there used to be a patio to eat at the end so we asked if there was still a patio outside and the guy said yes. We proceed and ordered some tacos and a pop. We went to the back to find out the patio is no longer public so the tacos are only to go after order was paid. We clearly asked from the beginning. The guy super rude gave us and we had to ask the patio is no longer public right and he said no, it is not public 🙄 pop room temperature to warm and I asked for a refund and he said we have no refunds… he never mentioned that they only had warm drinks. The order was not how we ordered as simple as not adding onions was not even followed. When I mentioned everything to the guy at the cashier he was super rude and just saying “have a nice meal” like pretty much asking us to leave.
