If you're looking for an old school fish and chips stop, with great Halibut, Cod, Haddock, and even Scallops, coupled with amazing home cut fries, cooked to a perfect golden brown, you need to try out British Style Fish and Chips. Mainly I go for the Halibut, as it has deeper flavour, and the servings here are ample and filling. The coleslaw is great too. It comes wrapped in a wax paper, and then regular paper, mimicking newspaper wrap of yesteryear. The owner is so hard working, and he's consistently over the frier moving the fish around the hot oil, like a parent tending to a child. There are condiments laid out across the counter top, and your to take anything from salt, brown vinegar, to tartar sauce free of charge. Street parklng If you're looking for authentic fish and chips, with both the fish and chip (fries) being 10/10 this is your stop. IMHO. PS I love food, so I don't mess around when I eat somewhere. I'm not wasting a meal on something meh. Other food lovers will know...

How badly varies, but in the worst case I was able to pick up the inner fillet and actually bang it against the table. The fish inside should normally be soft and flaky!! (at other fish and chips shops it always is). Today's was only moderately overcooked and chewy but it's frustrating especially when you're buying the halibut, which is the most expensive. They should use a timer if they don't have the expertise to realize by sight how long to cook it for (which they...
Read moreMostly a take-out joint, this neighborhood favourite has three small tables, no decor to speak of, and is my favourite chip joint in the city. Perfectly cooked tender fish in thick golden batter that is crunchy without and soft within. The best chips I've had outside of England: thick cut and properly soft inside. Excellent prices. The "special" - pollock and fries- is a fantastic deal. Not licensed. Washroom in basement. Not wheelchair friendly (one step up from street). Phone-ahead...
