O Sushi — Restaurant in Toronto

To those who desire for and know proper sushi:

There are many reviews on here that lead to a 4.6 star rating; and because of those reviews and that rating, I endeavoured to trust to dine at this O sushi last night.

The staff were cheerful and willing to accommodate my particular wants in ordering; which can be frowned upon or even shunned at many sushi restaraunts: and I mean them no disrespect in making this review: but I would just like to help my fellow sushi connoisseur out there, who might be mislead as I was last night by their reviews and rating, to avoid making the same mistake I did, wasting their time and money.

The quality of foods provided; the Red Tuna, Albacore Tuna, Scallop, surf clam and Octopus, were very poor.

They outwardly express that they cater to the takeout market, and make no express claims of being the freshest, highest quality of sushi ingredient purveyors: but what we received last night was nearly not even edible for quality of fish and seafood ingredients provided; and we wasted our time, money and appetite in dining there, because of all the good reviews and ratings, which do not equate to what we experienced.

I have had worse sushi. And O sushi's portions are huge; almost unpalatable in one bite. So I would think it would be wise for them, if they minded to make their rolls and sashimi portions smaller, (if necessary,) and provided instead a higher quality of seafood ingredient in their meals to make up for it; that way improving on their overall sushi experience provided to the consumers, without failing to earn the profits they are due.

They get a 1 for quality of fish and seafood provided; (which, for any true sushi lover or connoisseur, is the most necessary element of desiring to dine upon sushi;) a 4, for quality of avocado, cucumber, rice and other vegetable garnish freshness provided; and 5, for hospitality and over all willingness to please their clientele.

I will leave a rating of 1, intending by it to lower their rating appropriately, for those who might not read this review.

Nothing against the people and staff of O sushi whatsoever.

We had to garbage a portion of our order before we were through with dining upon it; and I had to spit out certain portions of the Red Tuna sashimi and Octopus sashimi for lack of freshness; which, as you might perceive, would drastically reduce your desire to carry on with eating what you are provided: no one wants to play Russian roulette...

My husband and I had dinner at O Sushi last week before we went to see a concert at History! It's a small restaurant with limited seating, so they don't take reservations. We were lucky that a table was available when we got there, but due to how busy it was (on a Tuesday night to boot) it took a little while for the table to be cleaned up from the previous diners. We ordered the veggie gyozo, Chicken Kara-age, Spicy Shrimp Roll, Green Veggie Dragon Roll, and the Pink Lady Roll (all pictured) 😋 The food was absolutely delicious!! Every item was fresh, flavourful, and thoroughly enjoyed by our taste buds and tummies!! The prices were also very reasonable and the menu is extensive!! They offered free iced Green tea which was very refreshing on a hot summer evening. This restaurant is clearly a favourite of locals as many folks came in for takeout and for a Tuesday evening it was quite busy!! I highly recommend this Sushi spot, especially if you're going to History for a concert afterward as it is just a few blocks away!! We will definitely go back next time we are...

AMAZING PLACE THAT EVERYONE SHOULD TRY ‼️‼️

We came as a group of 9 to this small, mostly takeout restaurant. They can probably seat max 10-12 people. We ordered tons of food and there was only one poor worker there who probably wasn't expecting so many people. Of course it took some time for the food to come out, but it was very fast all things considered! He was also extremely kind and accommodating and kept apologizing for the wait while we apologized for all the stress we were causing him LOL. So I'd rate the service 11/10!

They do BIG pieces of sushi. Like wow. They were averagely priced (a bit more than a dollar per piece) but you end up getting more food than most other places. Portion sizes for the noodles and sashimi don were also pretty good. Unfortunately they were out of ramen :(

Taste-wise, everything was pretty good. Nothing stood out as mind-blowing, but everything was still tasty.
