I was walking across Little Portugal on an empty stomach when I noticed that bakery. I thought “maybe this is a Portuguese bakery. Maybe they have that sugar muffin I had tried last year in another Portuguese bakery!” I went in and when I asked for a “sugar muffin, looks like a muffin and there’s sugar on top” they magically understood what I was looking for! A rice cake! 😅I only got one piece and I asked for the name in Portuguese “bolo de arroz”, the nice lady said. I noticed the ENORMOUS and yet AFFORDABLE loaves of bread and decided to start taking pictures. This might be a bakery worth visiting from time to time when you’re not from the neighborhood. This is definitely a bakery worth writing a review for. Note that there are plenty of tables, you can buy actual food (lunch or dinner), there are tv sets but it was not loud, you can buy drinks (pretty useful in summer time), etc. I left the bakery, started eating my bolo de arroz as I kept walking, but it was so good that I made a u-turn and bought two more!

Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed because I was so excited to try this place after hearing so many good things about it. I guess that day was a bad one. I ordered sour dough bread, and they informed me they didn't have any, but they had some coming out of the oven if I was willing to wait, which I said yes (yum fresh bread) after waiting a bit for my bread I got home and realized they sold me something else that was not sourdough. (First picture) It was fresh and I'm still going to eat it, but it was not what I ordered, and making someone wait to give them the wrong thing seems like a slap in the face. My friend ordered a BLT, and as you can see in the second picture, that can not be an acceptable amount of bacon to put on a sandwich and call it a BLT...that's a bit crazy. Overall, I feel cheated, and I don't know if I will be going back.

Food was just ok. My sandwich was fresh but lacked flavour. The place, on the other hand, was terrible. We had to clear our own table. Hated that there was no proper table service....order by phone or line up to place your order, then go back to your table and wait! Worst was they allow dogs in the place. I asked why they allowed the dog in the photo....clearly not a service dog, and i just got a smirk, and the server just said i would need to take that up with the manager. I feel like making a complaint to the city health inspector. I love animals... but a place selling food needs to follow the rules

I’m visiting Canada currently and I definitely don’t recommend going here. The waiter was very rude. We had to ask him twice to clean our table and the second time he berated me for choosing a dirty table to begin with. They forgot to bring one of the sandwiches we ordered and when we asked the girl behind the counter she kept saying we didn’t order it and they didn’t give us a receipt so we couldn’t check. Finally convinced her to go check and it was forgotten in the panini press, she didn’t apologize and literally threw the plate on to the table like she was mad use asked her to do her job. They don’t have table service we have to order our own food so their job in MINIMAL and they can’t even do that. I don’t know who the owner is but they must not like money because they definitely won’t be...
