3.5 stars for the Pateis de Nata ... I know its Portuguese Custard Tarts but guess what, the Brazilians did a pretty good job. I've been trying all the Portuguese Custard Tarts in the area and my current reigning favourite is Venezia with Novita, Caldense, and Nova Era all serving up decent versions.

Brazil Bakery is a large cafe with a take out bakery on the East side with the west side having all the tables and seating. There is a lot of space so you're never feeling crowded and there windows do offer a lot of natural light in so it's not too dark and cave like. The bakery does feel a bit dated but in a good way. It's like time stood still when everyone would come in for their coffee and pateis de nata first thing in the morning before heading into Toronto or on Sundays after church.

The bakery offers a lot of breads and they're all baked in house. Lots of loaves or buns to choose from the many many racks. They also have lots of cakes pre made for you or the many sweets ... there is a mountain of cakes, tarts, and cookie types.

Pateis de Nata - For only $2.80, you get 2 freshly made custard tarts. That's right... for less then a cup of coffee at a good spot, you get 2 of these! It's a complete steal especially when across the street you have to pay $5.50 for 1 tart. Anyhow, these are quite nice... crispy crust that flakes and shatters when you bite into it. An oozy centre that is more like a molten cake than any firm eggy custard. It was a novel approach and i do like it. As for flavour, I found the custard to be sweeter than Venezia and more generically one note (just sweet). I didnt taste any egg or vanilla. Still a great pateis de nata! 3.5/5

Definitely come for the super affordable and well made tarts... grab a large loaf while your'e add it. I saw they do make fresh donuts but they werent there during the week day. You'll be served quickly and be enjoying your custards with a few pieces of change in...

Everything a Portuguese bakery should be. They have fresh bread and sweets baked daily. The people working there are pleasant and friendly. You could order various types of coffee and they have plenty of tables you could sit at and enjoy a meal. I recommend their Tosta Mista, I think it’s how you spell it. There’s a menu there and they offer soups and sandwiches. It seems to be a hit with the Portuguese community there’s always a big group of construction workers in the early morning getting their coffees there. I was at a family function and my cousin who has moved to Brampton drives down every Sunday to pick up bread, sweet bread and other baked goods there. It’s worth the trip to Toronto she says lol. My mom who’s been living in Mississauga for 30 years tells me to bring up bread whenever I go visit her. They seem to be open from 5am to 11pm and I’ve seen them open on Stat Holidays. I’m rating it a 4 star for a few reasons. First. The bathrooms are in the basement and there’s no elevator there, so if you have mobility issues this might be a problem. Secondly. Parking could be an issue. There are parking spots along Dundas but the by law enforcement people pass by frequently. Heads up. Third. I don’t think there’s much the people at Brazil Bakery could do about this but some of their customers and neighbouring businesses beside them all tend to enjoy their cigarettes right in front of the door or very near by. They kill the wonderful smell the bakery is sending out and it’s a little disgusting walking by. I would recommend this bakery to anyone I know. Hope this...

I love this bakery&cafešŸ˜

I have been going to this bakery, since I was a child. It was and still is our go-to Bakery for bread and baked goods .You can count on having specialized baked goods for Christmas and Easter and New Year's.

It is a neighborhood staple !

Those of us who grew up in this area never referred to it by its actual name, we called it "Sheriden bakery".It is on Dundas street west, but next to Sheriden Ave.lol

It always has quality baked goods, the best Portuguese custered tarts, are made right here, the best in the whole city and GTA.šŸ˜‹šŸ¤—šŸ˜ To add the best shrimp and Cod croquettes and patties made right on site fresh everyday.

It has the bakery and the cafe part to sit and have a coffee or tea and pastries or sandwich or soup and the prices are so fair!!!

With all the genderfication happening in this area,it is wonderful to have a place where a person of any income can afford to buy great quality baked bread/goods and so many other items.

Also to note they are super conscious of not wasting food. Everyday just before they close, about 30 minutes or so,volunteers come in, from one,of the local, out of the cold programs and collects bags and bags and bags of fresh bread and buns,to be taken, to make sandwiches the next day,at the shelter. I think that's super šŸ˜Žamazing and they're super šŸ˜Žamazing for doing that and to help feed those in our city. Open late! yes!!!!! Untill midnight šŸ¤—šŸ˜

*I have no pics now, but...

This is a very interesting option if you want to experience a similar atmosphere to a traditional Brazilian bakery where you can eat at the counter and try a good continental breakfast The menu, however, is not very traditional with items you’d find in a Brazilian bakery, and it’s more of a mix of Brazilian, Portuguese and north American (which is nice, but there could be more Brazilian items such as pĆ£o na chapa, tapioca, pĆ£o de queijo, sonho etc). The waiters are very nice, but it took them almost 30 minutes to get my order because I ordered at the table with the QR code only to later find out that their system was not working. My advice to management is: stick to the traditional pen and paper to take your orders. The place is small and people who go there to eat expect the human connection with your nice staff.

This is probably the best Portuguse bakery in the city to get traditional custard tarts or 'natas' they also have a huge selection of desserts (standouts are the sweet cheese tarts) and freshly baked bread that you can bring to side counter and have them make a sandwich. There is also a large selection of Portuguese beverages and fairly decent coffee. Cash is probably best for quick service but they do take debit/credit for purchases over $10 if I'm not mistaken. Dec. 2022 Update: the bakery is now called Brockton Village Bakery as it is now under the ownership of a new generation (of the same family). There have been updates to the physical space and POS system as well as new offerings including a hot table (coming soon!) - you still can’t go wrong with the food and pastries!
