College Falafel — Restaurant in Toronto

In July I made a trip to Toronto to visit an old friend. I researched to find a new falafel experience. I chose College Falafel. It's important to note, College Falafel also offers the famous Halifax donair. It DID NOT disappoint. Matter of fact, my expectations were exceeded. I was greeted by the wonderful Falafel lady Oljana, and her husband Bardhyl. A fantastic Albanian couple. My friend John has lived in Toronto 30 plus years and has scoured the GTA in search of replicating the Halifax donair. You see, in the 80's, John played for Halifax King of Donair soccer club. King of Donair being the OG purveyors of the Halifax donair. As a club member John enjoyed the perk of feasting on many a donair. On July 3 we found the Mecca / the Holy Grail of donairs in Toronto. John said in particular, the sweet sauce took him 30 plus years back to Halifax. The meat was succulent and tasty. Oljana graciously allowed me to give her very specific instructions on how to build our donairs with all the fixings. The donairs were like manna from heaven, a culinary delight. Oh. By the way, the falafels were incredible. Wonderfully flavored, not overcooked as sometimes they are and nicely rounded. Not flattened like hockey pucks as I've sometimes gotten. In conclusion, for those in search, search NO MORE. If you want the best falafel and donair in the GTA head to COLLEGE FALAFEL. Best wishes, much future success, Oljana and Bardhyl. I know......how many times am I going to comment on these Donairs. Well......to the point that I drive from Don Mills and Lawrence to Ossington to get one........now I bring friends........must be good........

9 June review I brought a friend from St. Lucia to College Falafel, she's never heard of a Donair before so I thought she might like to taste one first. I bought one for myself thinking she might not like Donair so, I handed it to her, for her to let her taste, that was not a good idea.......she would not give it back.....I had to buy another one.....does that not tell you how good the Donair is? For someone who does not even know what a Donair is, well, I can tell you one thing....don't invite friends to College Falafel to taste their Donairs unless you're planning on buying another one........lesson learned.

7 June original review I am from Nova Scotia, ex-navy, and probably have eaten over 1,000 donairs in my life time. Yesterday I tasted the best Donair ever!!! I mean EVER!!!! My boyfriend introduced me to this place two weeks ago, and it’s a real gem in the city - hands down the BEST chicken shawarma and falafel plates and sandwiches that we’ve ever had, in our 33 years each of life so far.

The chicken is so delicious on its own, perfectly seasoned - and the toppings for the sandwiches are far more complete than what is typically available elsewhere. I want to make a note that they cook the generously-portioned falafel from scratch for each order, so it’s hot and crispy on the outside (not usually done at other shawarma places, who just warm up pre-cooked falafel, hours later).

I haven’t tried their other prepared foods (stuffed eggplant, baklava, etc.) but I can’t wait - just by looking at the food, let alone tasting the shawarma, we can tell this food is made from the heart. I have not even mentioned how kind and friendly the owners are, Oliana and Bardhyl Musa.

My boyfriend has been going for years, and I look forward to joining him for years to come! We love supporting this small business, and would easily travel from far just for the quality and SOUL that College Falafel puts in its dishes. Thank you,...
