When you go out to a nice club on King, you look forward to a fun night of partying -- but all me and my friends Christina, Nicole and Mariam got was humiliation and brazen discrimination at the hands of the people working at the club.
We were lined up outside and were stoked to get to the front of the line. But then, a group of girls standing behind us were let inside by one of the owners. The bouncer and hostess both completely ignored and stonewalled us when we tried to ask them what was going on.
It couldn't have been because we weren't dressed up enough. We're not nightlife novices. We were all rocking heels and nice dresses, but in hindsight I guess we didn't rock enough cleavage or leg for them. I sure hope the fact that we're all brown had nothing to do with it, I mean it's 2016.
It's a horrible feeling to be rejected at a nightlife venue without explanation. If you're appropriately dressed for the venue and you're in front of the line, you should be let in before anyone else. They made us feel we weren't good enough to be there.
Needless to say, we'll never be back and we'll tell everyone we know about our experience and ask them to stay away from this place.
IN RESPONSE TO YOUR RESPONSE:
Wow, just wow. What a pathetic response. Apparently, in Early Mercy's desire to provide "superior customer service", they have a policy of letting in regular customers ahead of new ones as a way of "honoring their loyalty".
This is absolute horseshit. When we were at the front of the line, the bouncer asked us if we had reservations or were walk-in patrons. We replied "walk-in". He then asked the girls behind us the same thing, and they also said they were walk-in visitors. They were then allowed in before us. Even they looked surprised! The bouncer did not recognize them or vice-versa, that's nonsense. Also, the lineup was very short when this happened so there was no need to resort to some random "loyalty" initiative and pick and choose patrons.
All we wanted was a sincere apology, but they've instead decided to not accept any responsibility whatsoever and respond with this laughable excuse. We felt humiliated enough last night, but this response is an insult to our intelligence and adds salt...

First of all, there was no line to get in? We were told by the bouncers "crowd around and whoever gets to the front gets let in"
Secondly, people were waiting for the longest period of time (keep in mind it was raining so everyone is getting wet) however, all a person had to do was claim they "had a table" and then their entire group gets let. We saw groups as big as 18 being let in simply because they claimed to have a table, we waited 40 mins as we saw group after group get let in... How did we get in? Well we ended up claiming we had a table as well... They didn't even check to verify, they simply said okay and let our group in. If you ever go, just claim you have a table and you'll bypass all the other people waiting to get inside.
Their bartenders were the only saving grace, those people were efficient and professional.... The DJ absolute trash, when you look at the dance floor and literally see no one dancing, it's time to change the music. Honestly, I'd be surprised if this place makes it to the end of summer and what is more surprising is all the positive reviews? I don't understand unless I came when everyone was literally being trained or a complete staff changed occurred...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEarly Mercy is a club that is very unique, out of all of the other clubs in the downtown core . Located right in the Heart of King Street , Early Mercy provides a casual experience for people who enjoy clubbing . Surrounded by convenience stores, Pizza Pizza , restaurants and more restaurants. Early Mercy is as normal as a club would be, providing a little list of beer to choose from and having a huge list of cocktails to choose from as well. Early Mercy is simply an Island bar in the middle of the dance floor with surrounding booths around the walls of the club. The weirdest part I experienced is when I was trying to get on to the patio, I needed an certain wristband to wear because it was a different venue. Shakes Head That was sort of confusing I must admit. Other than that , there is a smoking patio available so you can actually hear people talking instead of trying to pick some one up over loud music. I must admit, the staff is very professional and offer suggestions based on the night to have , as there is always drink specials. The bathrooms were as clean, sparkling and fresh. The ambiance and experience of Early Mercy is that it gets too crowded and cumbersum , so it's a really hard place to dance the night...
