I’ll start with the positives: the food was delicious and our servers were friendly. Unfortunately, that’s where the good ends.
We had reserved a table for a surprise birthday party—a week in advance—for a group of 8. While they were accommodating when a 9th guest joined, we were seated at a small table in the middle of a very crowded and noisy room, clearly meant for six people at most. We were shoulder to shoulder, which made the entire meal uncomfortable, and made us feel like we were an afterthought. What made this even more frustrating was that there were larger, more suitable tables available elsewhere in the restaurant.
Upon being seated, we were informed that because of our party size, we could not split the bill. While I understand this is a common policy for large groups, it would have been helpful to know at the time of booking. After some discussion, they did allow us to split the bill but automatically added a 20% gratuity. Unfortunately, the service simply didn’t justify it.
The evening felt disorganized from the start: they regularly did not provide enough cutlery, did not check on us for extended periods of time. But the most disappointing moment was the handling of the birthday cake. We had clearly noted in our reservation that we would be bringing a cake for the occasion. Yet, we were told, only upon arrival, that there would be a $3 per person plating fee. Worse than the fee, though, was how it was actually served.
Rather than coordinating with us to bring it so we could sing or celebrate, the server rushed it to the table with some candles still unlit, set it down silently in front of the guest of honour, and left. No plates. No knife. No acknowledgement of the occasion. After waiting a few minutes, someone from our party had to get up and ask for the proper items to serve the cake. To their credit, the manager did waive the cake fee after we expressed our disappointment, but by then we felt it was too little too late.
What was meant to be a joyful, celebratory evening felt awkward, uncomfortable, and poorly managed. It’s a real shame, as I’ve dined at Cibo before and had a great experience. But based on this visit, I don’t think I will ever come back, and I can’t recommend it to others, especially for group events or special occasions. We left feeling disappointed...

Read moreI honestly hate writing bad reviews, but this has to be said. I dined here for the first time with family to celebrate Mother’s Day and it was by far the worst dining experience we’ve ever had. There are so many things that went wrong, but to name a few, every time the server came to refill our water glasses, he spilt water all over the table. Every. Single. Time. No apology and no attempt to clean it up. We would be talking to the waiter and they would just walk away before we even finished speaking. We all got our food at different times. We asked for a dessert menu and put in our order. The server then proceeded to give all of us forks when 4 out of the 5 of us ordered gelato??? My mom and aunt ordered the tiramisu and they didn’t tell us until everyone else’s desserts were at the table that “it didn’t come out well” and that they would comp another one of our choice. Fine. We chose one cheesecake and one chocolate bomba. They came out with two bomba’s and no cheesecake…
I don’t understand how the whole service could be this bad when the restaurant was basically empty and we had 2 servers for our table. The food was mediocre, at best. You can get better Italian food from a chain like Vivo. For the price, and hyped reputation, I was expecting a way better experience than what we received. My bill alone for only 3 people including tip was almost $200.
I have dined at other Liberty group establishments, like Blue Bovine, and have had amazing experiences there.
If the food was good, we could look past the service but overall it was just a bad experience. We will never be...
