Updated Review: Blown away by the service! We visited during the pandemic (Stage 3) with a group of 5 and the manager (who we're thinking) provided us with an amazing service. We've been here before and the previous service staff was alright. With the manager on shift, we were provided impeccable service. No peanuts now, but we got a free pop instead! The manager also proceeded to keep checking on our water (without us asking) and even offered us replacement noodles as it sat for "too long" (at free of charge as well)! The quality of the food is still consistent and the side dishes are still just as amazing! The tomato brisket was also amazing too (new try this time)! We had at least 6 decent pieces of brisket and all the items were pre-tossed in for cooking thoroughly. We ordered the potato salad, cut chicken in chili sauce and popcorn chicken (all delicious)! The manager didn't need to be that thorough but he definitely made our night! They still take cash or debit like before! The menus are now plastic for ease of cleaning (vs the paper menu ones from before) and they had paper cups as well for sanitary reasons. Review from 3 years ago: We walked down Spadina and came across this Noodle House! We were surprised and glad we found this gem! Food was great, soup base tasted delicious (I had the Tomato one) and service was quick! I got the Tomato soup base and I was delighted by the flavour of it! So good! With the extra toppings (for a surcharge), they put the extra toppings in the soup base when they deliver it to your table. Location is optimally close to both College or Dundas Street if needed for transit access and also along the Spadina line as well. Bonus! Also, every table spot had a paper menu so that each diner can customize their food choice. For $8.99, you get a decent sized bowl of noodles & toppings (free extra servings of noodles if needed). Once menu is put in, servers come back out with the 10 toppings in a convenient tray that come with the each noodle bowl. They change up the 10 toppings you get depending on the season as well with some standards like corn and greens which is a nice touch!

Went here as reviews looked okay and felt like noodle soup on a chilly day. It is located on the west side of Spadina, on the less active side of west Chinatown. Restaurant looks like a typical Chinese restaurant. Simple decor with seats and one sided booth seating. Only takes cash or interact. Menu is large. Be careful when choosing noodle soups as there are both spicy and non spicy items and vegetarian soups with vegetarian sides with the soup if you ask for them. Every bowl comes with a set of 8-10 sides (with some repeats) which include corn, fungus, fish cake, lettuce, meat item (blanched pork, or shrimp), bean curd, 2 quail eggs, and imitation crab. I got the tomatoe soup, which was savoury but can be acidic if you don't have the stomach. Soup came out boiling hot. Noodles were rice based, round, and thin that had a little chewy texture. The side appetizers are good and had a large menu. Had the grilled squid, cucumber, and deep fried tofu. Squid was flavoured well. Cucumbers had the right amount of sweet and light sour sauce, tofu was fired well with the right amount of crisp. Liked the salty peanut appetizer but perhaps was hungry that night. Good alternative to doing regular noodles as able to add toppings from choice of up to 8 items and lots of appetizers. Cost of appetizers are $3-10 depending on item. Soup was $10-12 and can add additional toppings for extra. You will be served water in paper cups...found it odd no tea was offered in a chinese restuarant. Service was okay but don't forget to mention any allergies or food restrictions at the beginning as it is not explicitly stated on menu and not known what toppings you will get with the soup. Quickly recieved food after ordering, under 10 minutes. Overall: Reasonably priced food that had lots of choices for appetizers if you don't know or want to have noodles.

On a cold Winter day in Toronto, what better way to warm up then to have some delicious rice noodles in delicious broth. Fudao Rice Noodle House located in Chinatown offers up some unique take on flavours for broth. What I really like about Fudao is that it gives you that homey sense of good home cooked food. It’s comfort food at it’s finest. I think the prices here are very reasonable compared to other rice noodle houses. My friend and I ordered a variety of dishes including the Fudao Rice Noodles in Shredded Pork and Pickled Cabbage Soup, Fudao Rice Noodle in Thai Curry Soup with add-ons of stuffed fish balls and lobster balls, the Spicy Soup Hotpot with Beef, Popcorn Fried Chicken and the Shrimp Skewers. Both rice noodle dishes were quite delicious and gives you feeling that it was cooked by your mom or dad which gives that homey feeling. Essentially, you get the soup broth, the toppings and the rice noodles separately so you can pour and mix it yourself into the soup. You can definitely leave here knowing you will be full because you can also get extra noodles for free. I thought the spicy soup hotpot with beef was nice and definitely had a kick. I had a nice taste of the hotpot as we were already getting full from the rice noodles. The appetizers were good. I really loved the popcorn fried chicken. Nice and crispy and not too much batter on the chicken. The shrimp skewers were alright. I wish they removed the skin before frying them. Overall, a very nice dining experience. Great service, friendly staff and delicious food! You’ll leave Fudao a very happy person having tried their delicious rice noodles and nice warm fuzzy feeling inside!

Pros: the food was delicious, and large portion. There are vegetarian options but they are just a meat dish with the meat taken out. Not on the actual menu.

My cons: (there was another review showing a worm maggot in her food and my thoughts about their kitchen might be correct) The toilets downstairs were alright but there were dead bugs on the ground like cockroaches and those things with the long legs. That is disgusting because of the are there, that means no one cares to clean them or get rid of them. And it means they are everywhere. It scares me to think how the kitchen looks. The other review confirms, maggot in food) don't think I will return.

my vegetarian curry soup was too salty and it wasn't as full as the one my mother got. They took the meat out of the dish (it's supposed to come with meat, and they didn't put anything else instead but I paid the same amount). My mother's soup needed salt. . I would return but with great hesitation due to the bugs issue (I don't want maggots in my food). Please add an actual vegetable options on the menu and fix your bug\ hygiene issue in the kitchen.

Regarding the staff, the gentleman was very polite and helpful in helping us from choosing from the menu to consuming the food. One of the female waitress was very rude though. We could tell she was eyeing customers and talking in an angry tone to the other waitress (racist maybe). We asked her for a fork because my mother doesn't use chopsticks and she decided to go clean tables instead while we waited and my mother couldn't get to her food properly. I had to ask her again while she continued to clean the tables and she got angry and gave me attitude. I found this very disturbing. There is no room for racism.

She then went to another customer who had just gotten his food and started putting all the veggies in his soup bowl without his permission. He returned to the table seeing her doing that and started pleading for her to please stop saying no no no no no please stop! (I don't think he wanted all the veggies in his soup) but she wouldn't listen and continued to put all the veggies in his bowl. (Sucked to be him) The other waitress was nice though but didn't speak English so there was a communication problem when cashing out.

Mostly the dead cockroaches and bugs and the paycho waitress gave it a...

Little hole-in the wall restaurant with good inexpensive food. Not a fancy restaurant, but the noodle soup is served boiling hot in little cast-iron pots on wooden pedestals, and you get a tray full of tiny dishes of veggies and protein so you can put them and your rice noodles in yourself for maximum freshness. It really gives a good experience.

It's Chinese food, and the place is full of mostly Chinese customers, so the flavour is not really whitewashed. Nothing wrong with American Chinese food, but the two are two destinctly different cuisines, and places like this are a sight for sore taste buds. I wouldn't call it "authentic", as most people who are looking for authentic are actually looking for "traditional", but this is Chinese food as it would be eaten by students and employees in China after a mall day or something. Well attended by the local international student population. The owners have a good sense of humour, and there's a Chinese inside joke written on the inside of their entry-way window.

Portion sizes are good, and the lunch deal (any noodle soup, any side, and a soft drink for $15) is a steal. A single lunch special can easily be shared by two smaller adults, and you frequently see families with children where the parents order one entree per adult and the whole family is well fed. Be aware that the lunch special, despite the name, is actually only available in the afternoon from 2-5pm.

Offers takeout and delivery, accepts payment by cash or debit. The place is always very busy, so be prepared to potentially wait for seating. Service is efficient, nothing amazing but not bad given the size of the place and the volume of customers.

One star off for service because the place is great for people with few needs, but is not really accommodating in terms of dietary restrictions and accessibility. Not really their fault seeing as cost of accommodation would likely be prohibitive to a super affordable micro restaurant business like this, but accommodation for special needs should be taken into consideration.

Overall, great value! 5 stars because I will definitely be coming back lots and recommending...
