I have chronic knee pain, have had for years. It makes using the stairs extremely painful if not impossible, even just a few on bad days. Most times I try to ignore the pain, if I go with someone I ask to be carried up the steps at the entrance. But was going by myself today and was having a very painful day, even one step up can make things drastically worse when it's like this. I remembered they have a sign at the front saying they can provide assistance if needed, so I call and the cashier who picked up said I can come in through the back door which is just flat without steps. Then as I'm leaving, the supervisor/manager stops me and asks what's wrong with me. I said I dont know why but I have severe knee pain that gets so much worse if I use the stairs. He kept on questioning the legitimacy of my pain, demanding a legal documentation because he "couldn't see" that I was in pain and in need of assistance. The more I tried to explain that this pain just exists like that, even doctors can't really resolve anything as I go from one clinic to another, and he was like "how am I supposed to believe something you're saying if not even the doctors know what's going on" and continued denying the fact that I had pain. I asked would he still be like this if I for example had a cast, and he said no because that he can see but he can't see my chronic knee pain so it must be not real. Not everything that affects your physical mobility is visible nor medically explained (if it was properly explained with actually working solutions I would not be experiencing chronic pain endlessly..), it was an unbelievable experience. Will never...
Read moreThis place had always been my favorite supermarket to go to until today. They have good selections and very nice and friendly staffs. HOWEVER, today I was told to get out of the store because I carried my service animal in a carrier when we were cashing out already. This person didn't even ask me if this was a service animal and told me to "GO OUT NOW" with a very condecending attitude. As I walked out the store and left my partner to pay, she was still complaining and murmuring after I choose to step back. This person surprisingly turned out to be the manager of the store. She was STILL telling my partner that I don't care about anyone and I shouldn't bring animals here while I was waiting outside with my service animal in a carrier. I don't understand what's the problem of this manager. It's something we could've communicated easily. But she choose to be manipulative of what I should think and do. It's such a terrible experience. All their other staffs were always wonderful...
Read moreThe Galleria Supermarket at Yonge & Wellesley is really convenient if you’re looking for Asian groceries in downtown Toronto. They have a big selection of refrigerated, ready-to-eat meals like kimbap, japchae, and bento-style boxes that make it easy to grab food on the go. There’s also a wide variety of fresh vegetables, raw meats, and seafood, plus a section with Korean and Japanese beauty products, snacks, and sauces.
The store is on the smaller side compared to suburban Asian supermarkets, but it’s well organized and very clean. Prices are definitely a bit higher than other grocery stores, so it’s not the best for a big weekly shop, but it’s perfect for specialty items or quick meals. The self-checkout machines are convenient and usually quick, and the staff keep the store tidy.
Overall, it’s a reliable spot if you live nearby and want authentic Asian ingredients without trekking uptown, but expect to pay a little extra for the...
