UPDATE: REALLY THINK TWICE FROM ORDERING FROM HERE! I have for years but won’t anymore. Got my order with missing item and the restaurant said they would refund it on the phone. They will not contact uber to facilitate this and Uber as usual is not being helpful and saying it’s not eligible. Very strange management ethic, if posting my requests from countless orders where I have asked for extra gyoza sauce or sauce on tbe side or asking you to take extra care to not pack hot rice with sushi etc these are normal requests! All these orders add up to $1000s of dollars so clearly If I’m upset there’s a reason. And when I have requested refund it’s because you forgot something! Just like tonight! Where’s my ikura? The tuna in the order was gross! Looks pretty at first and then it’s like bubble gum. Pulled huge pieces of silver skin out my mouth I almost choked on it. Clearly as they said prices have gone up but their quality control is no where to be seen. Missing items, poorly trimmed fish of no concern but a sauce on the side and to charge for it they didn’t miss. Telling me to reach out to make it right? Give me the refund for my Tuna bowl as you promised.
Today I ordered over a 100$ of food through uber eats and simply asked that the spicy roll sauce be put on the side as I can’t eat it and my husband can. You auto charged me $2 for this and say this is your new policy that you just changed without letting anyone know. Most restaurants have no problem making small adjustments that accommodate dietary restrictions if they don’t come at any added cost. I then simply said fine omit the sauce and you don’t want to give the money back you charged. A simple phone call to clarify and be up front is the way business should be operated. Your best offer was to cancel the entire order, almost 30 mins after I made...
Read moreOkay. It's important not to understate how delicious this food is. It's kinda like being a kid again and you only like watching one movie. This is the movie I'm picking to eat again and again. The people who say they don't like sushi are wrong because they haven't been here yet. If you think the place only serves sushi your mistaken. It only took my future mother in law three visits before she felt comfortable enough to eat sushi. But In very proud of her that she did. As it's now one of the meals she's really come to enjoy. It's not too heavy and packed with freshness.
If you take kids here they will eventually go crazy for sushi. Seriously I've seen kids yell at their mother for taking the last piece of sushi. That's what I'm like 👍 because this ain't no game. 😊
Here's a decent place to start but in now way illustrates their complete menu. Kararage(similar to fried chicken only done in a better format) seaweed salad, edimame, their salads(not sure if its rude of me to drink the dressing bit I do ot anyways 😜, Osaka set(it's like a talent show for fresh sushi and other fishes, seared tuna, honey crab roll, kamikaze roll, chicken teriyaki, cucumber and avocado roll, and their smoked Japanese tea. The miso soup makes me so 😋 happy.
My first review written nearly two years ago: Quality and consistent. The staff are friendly and proper. It's one of my favourite places to go when I'm looking for something healthy and fresh. I always leave...
Read moreKiyo Japanese Cuisine is a small sushi restaurant located on Bathurst. The restaurant was busy with full tables and a steady stream of UberEats orders and pickups during our visit. A nice choice for the area for sushi!
The menu covered most standard categories of appetizers, maki/handrolls, special rolls, and entrees and offered a decent don (rice bowl) selection. We ordered the Maki Set A, Vegetable Tempura, and salmon and avocado roll. The tempura was good, with a light tempura sauce and various vegetables including taro, carrot, zucchini, broccoli, and yam. However, the oil used for frying did not feel as fresh as other tempura restaurants. The Maki Set A had small pieces and small portions but was tasty.
The service was efficient, with 2 sushi chefs and 2 waitresses attending to the dine-in and take-out customers. The restaurant is fairly tiny with 6 tables of 4 people each. Due to how small this place is, there were some logistical issues if other customers did not leave before the reservation. We reserved for 7pm but were fully seated for a group of 10 by 7:25pm as tables were added when other customers finished their meals.
Note: The closest bus stop is Nina Street to get off via the...
