Appearance: 3/5⭐️ I bought 4 tacos to try - Birria - Stewed beef, Carnitas - Braised pork, Pollo - Grilled chicken, Pescado - Grilled fish. All four tacos came in a single take out box, only being separated by paper wrappers on each side. Overall presentation was very messy as all tacos were laying together with toppings being loose throughout the box.
Smell: 3/5⭐️ Birria (stewed beef) taco had the more distinct smell of spices and sauces compared to all the other tacos, which was very pleasant. The other three tacos did not stand out, all were quite similar in terms of smell/marinades used.
Taste: 3/5⭐️ The most flavourful tacos were Birria (stewed beef) and Carnitas (braised pork). Stewed beef was tender, seasoned very well. When it came to Pollo (grilled chicken) and Pescado (grilled fish) the flavours of the meat got lost. It was under seasoned and did not stand out as a protein. My overall impression was that there was not enough of the toppings and it felt very unbalanced when it came to tasting them. Not enough meat, not enough greens, not enough sauce.
Texture: 2/5⭐️ I truly enjoyed the Birria (stewed beef) as the meat was tender enough to melt in your mouth, but all the other proteins were a disappointing. Carnitas (braised pork) was not bad - but a bit on the chewier side, Chicken and Fish were both very mushy in texture and under-seasoned. When it came to the tortilla all were plain and soft except the Birria taco which came in a hard-crunchy tortilla.
Temperature: 4/5⭐️Cooked fresh to order.
Flavour: 2/5⭐️ Overall no distinct flavours between the variety of tacos offered. Very scarce with all toppings offered. Not a well balanced taco.
Price: 1/5⭐️ The price is not worth the quantity and quality. For 6$ +tax you get ONE single small taco which does not contain nearly enough protein and toppings as what should be expected. For 4 tacos alone you are already spending 25$, just to be hungry right after as it is a very small portion size, quite disappointing first time experience.
Customer Service: 1/5⭐️ The wait time at Tacos Moras is too long, 3 workers inside on the floor, only 2 customers inside, and it took around 15 minutes to assemble 4 tiny tacos. Cashier was not welcoming from the beginning till the end of interaction, as soon as she finished taking the order she pulled out her phone right in front of us, and after scrolling around on her phone she proceeded to help the cook with some toppings all with her bare dirty hands that just touched cash register/money/and her phone. The amount of carelessness from employees is unbelievable.
This place was okay to try once, but I don’t think I would go out of my way to come here again considering the customer service, food quantity and prices. It’s quite disappointing leaving the restaurant and still...

The carnitas tacos were a revelation - tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The al pastor had just the right balance of savory and slightly sweet, and the grilled shrimp tacos transported me to a beachside taco stand in Baja California. Vegetarians and vegans will also find plenty to enjoy, with delectable options like grilled portobello and roasted cauliflower tacos.
What truly sets [Taco Haven] apart is their commitment to authenticity. The house-made salsas, with varying levels of heat, provide the perfect accompaniment to the tacos. And don't forget to order the guacamole; it's a creamy, zesty delight that pairs perfectly with their crispy tortilla chips.

Read moreThis… is my gringo taco review. Tacos Moras on St. Clair has some of the best tacos in the neighborhood. Their Birria taco is made from a secret family recipe, forged in the Mexican region of León, and passed down to the owner by his abuelita. These are more than just tacos — it’s a living family lineage. A tradition strengthened through generations of home-cooked meals and shared memories. The family-friendly environment at Tacos Moras is a reflection of that heritage. It’s welcoming. Familiar. Like the original purpose of the recipe — to feed family. Trying the Birria taco myself, topped with their freshly made salsa, I was transported straight back to Mexico. I mean that literally — my gringo sinuses lit up instantly as the spices flushed through my system. I wasn’t ready for the heat, so I quickly ran over and grabbed two drinks — a tamarind Jarrito and an Horchata — just to cool down. But once I recovered… I swear I could speak Spanish. “Uno taco, por favor. Gracias. Cómo estás?” So if you’re a fellow gringo looking for an authentic taco — or just a place to test out your “Holas” from Duolingo — this is the spot. Tacos Moras. León-style Birria. Family warmth. And authentic Mexican food on right on St Clair. And make sure to follow me to learn more about the real stories behind Toronto...
