It was a fun exciting day! After roaming the entire area shopping, people watching and having some snack. We decided it was time for dinner. We were about to go to a sushi close to it but they booked us 2 hours later. Desperately starving, I tried to find something to eat before that (yes, I know 😆) From the outside looking in, Kiki share bar looked pretty cool. The first expression was how cozy the whole restaurant appears. It seemed full too, and private. The customers are cosmopolitans who seem to be cultured & knowledgeable. The couple sitting next to us were talking about history & art. Now let’s talk food, drink & service because that’s what we came here for 😋 I understand some restaurants in downtown TO give smaller group small table. Maybe it’s my thing but even if I go to food place by myself I still choose bigger table. The small table may limit customers’ choice of dishes and drink. Same went on that day, the table was very small and in the corner, meanwhile I saw there were other tables with no customers around it. Therefore I only placed 2 orders. Usually I’d order 4-5 dishes min to try. The food tasted nice & fresh & surprisingly filling. I ordered 2 drinks for myself. My friend didn’t drink even that was his birthday 🎂 The drink tasted great. Servers are nice lovely girls who worked pretty hard. When we left it was also time for them to close. And the food made our tummy full so we didn’t go to the initial Japanese omakase down the street. I’d suggest you try if you are around the area. Pricing is worth it for the quality of the food & drink.

And in a very unlike me manner, we also didn’t share at the Share Bar. It didn’t stop me from ordering the salmon aburi sushi ($20) to start, the rice adorned with thick cuts of salmon topped with lime aioli. At KOKO, there was just enough of the mayo to take on a hint of smokiness and to add a splash of creaminess without making the sushi greasy. I would have liked some stronger finishing ingredients to create more interest – like the customary jalapeno slice, a dab of chopped olives, or even a sprinkling of green onions. The aburi was good but lacked pizazz. Based on my friend’s recommendation (and plenty of other reviewers), I had to try KOKO’s roasted miso black cod ($36). It’s a solid dish but with a few changes could be even better: including some of the miso sauce on the side for those who want a more flavourful fish or to pour over the steamed rice, removing some of the cod’s bones to make it easier to cut into (even the large shards were left behind), and roasting the skin longer so that it becomes crispier. Still, I appreciated the decent sized piece of black cod, which was fresh and flaky and there was a nice variety of vegetables included to create a balanced and healthy meal. If only there was more seasoning on the vegetables that seemed to be merely steamed.

The location is great. Patio is actually right on the road and you are eating beside a one way traffic( lots of very noisey cars and motorcycles in the area, not the restaurant's fault). The food is actually kind of boring, you have the standard Japanese, Korean foods such as sushi, udon, seafood pancake, kalbi. The tempera Udon is really good, and my kids like it. The sashimi and the miso cod are OK at best. The worst dish we had is the seafood pancake. Usually people either look for fluffness or crispness in Korean pancakes, I appreciate both. However, the one here manage to be neither. I think the pancake was made a bit too thick and it was also undercooked because the green onions are very raw, also i was not aware that we have a seafood shortage. 😅 Service is pretty good considering everyone was busy. However when paying by card, they just punched in the tip and taped my card without asking. It's not like they put too much, a modest 15%, I'd probably go with 18 or 20 myself, but it's kind odd that they just did it without asking.

Mom and daughter date night in Yorkville, and thank goodness we booked ahead! Koko was completely packed, and they weren’t accepting any walk-ins—we even saw the guy behind us get turned away at the door. Safe to say, this place is in high demand, and after our meal, we totally understood why.

The vibe inside was sleek and modern, but still warm and inviting. The service was super friendly, and we felt taken care of the entire night.

We kicked things off with the newly added Seared Salmon and Sashimi Appetizer, and it was the perfect start. The salmon had this beautiful, light sear that gave it a hint of smokiness while keeping it melt-in-your-mouth soft. Pair each bite with the mixed green at the bottom, and you got a mini salad bite. The sashimi was incredibly fresh—clean, delicate, and just the right bite.

For mains, we had to try their Bibimbap (we picked lobster) which was their signature dish. We were recommended to add some bulgogi and an egg to the order, and honestly, it was everything we hoped for. The stone bowl came out sizzling hot, with crispy rice at the bottom soaking up all the flavors. The lobster was tender and juicy, adding a rich, buttery touch to every bite. Mixing everything together—the soft egg, the umami bulgogi, fresh veggies, and the bibimbap sauce, a sweet and spicy sauce plus flavourful bulgogi sauce—was pure comfort in a bowl.

We also got the Sushi Assortment, and every piece was perfection. The salmon was silky, the tuna was buttery, and the snapper had a slight sweetness that made it stand out. Super fresh and beautifully plated.

For dessert, we went with the Japanese Cheesecake in mango and green tea flavors. Light, airy, and just the right amount of sweetness. The mango had a bright, tropical flavor, while the green tea had that subtle matcha taste that we love. A perfect way to end the meal!

Of course, we had to try their cocktails! The Jeju Island was citrusy, refreshing, and slightly floral—so easy to sip on. The Cosmopolitan was smooth, well-balanced, and had just the right amount of kick.

Overall, Koko was such a great spot for our mom-and-daughter night out. With delicious food, great ambiance, and a dining experience that felt special from start to finish, it was just perfect! If you’re thinking of going, make a reservation! This place...

We heard sushi pizza was the thing to try in Toronto, so we chose this place. We were happy to find out that not only did it have great food but excellent service as well.

We arrived at 8 pm and the atmosphere was superb for a laid back, classy dinner. The waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. All of her recommendations were spot on and she went out of her way to make sure we had a great evening. From serving up the mandu soup into two separate bowls, to showing us how to serve the bibimbap and then taking the bowl away and crisping the extra rice for us (and adding a few extra toppings when she brought it back!). Needless to say my wife and I were extremely impressed by her hospitality.

As for the food, could not fault it. Everything was fresh, crisp and delicious. The Mandu soup had clean, complex flavors which accompanied the subtle taste of chives from the dumplings very well. We were not expecting much from the sushi pizza, as we were just trying it out as a novelty item. However, it did not disappoint. The texture of the rice was just the right balance between crispy and gooey, while the salmon topping had just the right amount of mayonnaise. The bibimbap arrived hot and flavorsome as did the galbi grilled beef short ribs.

Definitely worth the little bit...
