I came to visit this branch on Canada Day.. July 1st Also, marking 45 years anniversary for Mandarin! As well
They were kind enough to offer a free lunch buffet for the public only that day It was a very long quo People started lining up at 8 am in the morning We came at 10 am We were seated at 2 pm But the team was kind enough to offer bottle s of water out. They stamped our hands Once we got in, we were welcomed by staff..nice smile hot towel We went to buffet..fresh ..sectioned into salads appetizer s soups entre meat shrimp chicken and vegetarian various dishes freshly made and keep getting refilled with every batch of people getting in to ensure quality and taste Waiters went out of their way to please customers. It was a huge effort that day for them.. without a break We really enjoyed our meal It was worth the wait The dessert was super nice I loved that lemon tart with that creamy, slightly burnt mirange topping I always come for it. I also love their deep-fried section ( fried shrimp..calemary..onion rings..and fish) so fluffy batter is crispy. I only eat halal meat, so i didn't try any meat or chicken there.neither pork. The tofu dishes looked delicious, but i haven't tried either. I want to thank management of that branch I want to thank the cooks and kitchen staff who started so early that day ..and finished late. The organisers and ushers I want to thank ppl who were behind the trays helping us with food and explaining patiently There was an old lady who loads the food from kitchen to the trays on the counter..although she looked tired at end of day yet she was working non stop..i saw her several times during the day loading the dessert section. ( inlybwish was inwishedbthey let more ppl in becuase many tables were empty while the wait outside on heat was long- also wishedvthe quo was devised into two..lets say seniors wd have a higher priority to get in faster as they wont be able tobstand long in line..also women alone wd need a small table so they can get in faster. Another point you should have put a window time for each customer getting jn..becuase some ppl were sitting all day!! While others are hungrily waiting outside inline for tables to get emptied and ready.. one hour window is more than enough for each guest) and ppl shld respectbthat eat and move..to give room to others. Not sit three hours!
Special thanks to Gaia and To Kim ! The two best waiters in our hall.
They are by far the best two that day Very friendly smiling..very patient with requests. I never tried that Eglinton branch before, but this won't be my last time. Thank you, Mandarin, for that gesture and putting a smile on your loyal customers' faces Also, the fact that it's an initiative towards the community . Is something...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRight from the first step into the waiting area, a rush of cloud 9 kind of " relaxed ambiance ". We were welcomed by many friendly, polite & soft spoken staff. The layout was an amazing art by smart designer We are very pleased to be served by 2 amazing š staff Amy and Dyan. The management team must have some great minds š š. All staff know what customer wants. This Mandarin stands out as the champion š of a 5-star buffet restaurant, offering all Canadian ( including non Chinese), fall in love with this particular successful business. This Mandarin is a " must go" especially great for friends gathering to celebrate Christmas š š. One thing, I am impressed is that after the oversized amount of cuisines, I didnot experience any head-lightness which means they donot use MSG (mono sodium glutamate), a flavor enhancer, which may cause DEMANTIA. I ate Chinese food often, this dinner is the only restaurant who truly care about the health of their customers š I tend to skip those routine feedback good words on reviews. MSG is one of the 5 commonly added to restaurant foods, this is one outstanding š remark. My first time tasted the natural taste of food , they served. The roast beef is the good example, a great taste of beef. With MSG, one may feel bloating, gas& DIARRHEA. I appreciate š the chefs šØāš³ help us to delay/prevent the potential early onset of demantia. Overall impression, highly recommend friends take advantage of this Christmas party/gathering, a " must go" restaurant: Mandarin Yonge @2200 Yonge street, TORONTO. make sure demand to come to this Mandarin @2200 Yonge/Eglington Toronto. This Mandarin is the CHAMPION š in presenting Canadian the BEST both traditional Chinese and non-Chinese foods.. We are very satisfied with the services provided by Amy & Dyan. enjoy a Merry Christmas 2023 with an unforgettable great cuisines dinner, not limited to just Chinese foods. The staff spoke fluent English too, that made me feel like...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGone there when their moon festival event was happening during lunch time. Just a disclaimer.
This is one of Canada's most well known Chinese food buffet place. It is all over the place serving people Americanized Chinese food. It is what you expect and what you would expect. Standard fair that would offend anyone that has tasted actual Chinese food but this place ain't for them. It is inoffensive really.
Service is standard and polite. Good training. No complaints.
Food is ok. The special dishes were fine (the butternut squash soup was offensive. Tasted and smooth like an old person's soup they would enjoy. Not for me) but doesn't stand out. I most stuck to my usuals like torpedo shrimp, roast beef, bit of rice, and other things here and there to make some variety to the pallet.
You should also not expect such a place to know how to serve turkey. I get it, the dark meat pieces on offer were just left over last night from the previous dinner service. No food waste right? But damn, could have just done a turkey noodle soup with them and just served turkey breast on carve instead. Could have replaced the butternut squash soup on tap...
The turkey dark meat was dry and even when doused with gravy, it was tough as well... at least the skin was tasty enough ...? As I said, don't ask Americanized Chinese place to do turkey properly.
Decor is bog standard template that Mandarin is known for. Could use updating but then I wonder if corporate head office has the op budget to do renovations on their restaurants...?
You get what you pay for. At the lower priced time frame of the lunch service, you really go there to get your belly stuffed for lunch time. Maybe even just a bit too much that you might not need dinner.
What can I say? It...
