Subject: Refund Request for Incorrectly Charged Amounts
Dear Mandarin Restaurant Administration,
On February 16, 2025, I celebrated my birthday at your restaurant. I had reserved a table for 4:30 PM in advance—on February 10—by visiting the restaurant in person and confirming my birth date with my ID.
When we arrived at the restaurant on February 16, I once again presented my ID to confirm that it was my birthday. Additionally, all three of my friends also provided their IDs, proving that they were over 65 years old.
According to your restaurant’s policy, the birthday guest should receive a free meal, and guests over 65 should receive a discount. However, when we received the bill: • I, as the birthday guest, was charged $40, even though I was supposed to be served for free. • Each of my three friends was charged $33, . • A $20 tip was added to the bill without my consent.
I would like an explanation as to why I was charged on my birthday when your policy states that the birthday guest dines for free. Additionally, I want to understand why the server unilaterally decided to add a tip without my approval.
You can verify all of this by checking your security camera footage and reviewing my bill in your system.
Furthermore, I would like to know why your servers, seeing that elderly guests with limited English proficiency are dining, take it upon themselves to add gratuity to the bill without consent and disregard the restaurant’s policy, which states that the birthday guest should be served for free.
I kindly request that you review this matter and refund the amount that was wrongly charged. I appreciate your prompt response.
