Randy's roti bad review I only go to Randy's roti when I am desperate for some Trini food, but this will be the last time. I ordered the goat roti special and an aloo pie. Not only was the wrong roti made the first time (chicken instead of goat), it wasn't filled up very much and the method of packing was rather sloppy. The roti itself (wrap) didn't have any taste to it, and seemed like it was only made out of flour and water, not much else if anything. I couldn't tell you what style of roti it was, definitely not buss up shut or dhal puri. The goat didn't taste like it was seared and the curry didn't seep in to the meat, leaving little flavour. Doesn't feel worth the cost, even at the lunch price. Because of the thickness of the roti and lack of stuffing, there was a lot of bites that were just roti and not much else. I've had rotis that had such good flavour, it makes it worth powering through if it's too spicy, and if it's not spicy it is still delicious. I did not feel this way about the food here. As for the aloo pie, I don't know why when my Trini partner orders it they put Chana, tamarind sauce and some greens in it, but when I order the pie there is nothing done to it, just a plain potato and flour pie, they don't even cut it open.  I said I didn't want hot sauce and to put it on the side so maybe they thought I didn't want ANYTHING spicy, but why no chick peas or other ingredients? There was clearly miscommunication but I had said "do everything the same, but put hot sauce on the side" and asked several times about the Chana and how the aloo pie is made. Talking to the staff was difficult, and being a short person, the takeout containers piled up make it so I cannot make eye contact easily with the staff while they prepare the food. The polhourie would be a nice treat, but the quantity you have to buy, and at that price doesn't make sense to me. I am always wishing there was a smaller portion option. We stopped getting the doubles, the price only makes sense when it's on special and is not as good as the doubles outside of Piarco Airport, or what you used to get from Carribean Roti Palace,  which is has sadly been closed for several years now. The coleslaw was lackluster; less than fresh cabbage with mayonnaise squirted on top. That's it. I have been to Trinidad a few times and tasted the local food; this restaurant is no where near that authentic taste. My partner who is from Trinidad has been disappointed with the quality of their food our last few visits.

Extensive review: I saw this on blog T.O. and decided to try it. This place is good when it come to roti. The roti was packed with chicken and potatoes tasted good as well. When my girlfriend and I went. We ordered alot to see if the food is up to par to my trini girlfriend standards and to our surprise it was not. When it comes to roti it was warm and tasty; mildly spicy as well. My girlfriend tried their potatoes and chana roti and she said the same thing, she also thought it was a bit sweet maybe because of the tamarind sauce. However, when it comes to my second order which was jerk chicken, this is why it loses major points...the jerk chicken was cold how can this place serve you cold food (couldn't even microwave it?) the rice was warm but, still can't get over being served cold chicken. my girlfriend and I came to the conclusion maybe it was because we came late, near closing time (1.5hrs) we are going to try it again around lunch time to see if it is any better.

Food heaven! Today, I devoured the most mouthwatering chicken doubles and curried goat roti that left me in awe at Randy’s roti shop! I walked the entire yonge street looking for this place. The chicken doubles were a revelation - tender, juicy chicken smothered in a rich, spicy sauce, all wrapped up in crispy, golden fried barra. And the curried goat roti? Absolutely sublime! The slow-cooked goat meat simply fell apart, infused with a deep, aromatic curry flavor that paired perfectly with the soft, fluffy roti. Each bite was a flavor explosion that left me craving more and making me feel like if I’m in Trinidad 🇹🇹! If you're a fan of Caribbean cuisine, do yourself a favor and track down these doubles and roti - your taste buds will do the happy. I fully recommend Randy’s roti shop 💯

As amazingly delicious as the food is, the place is too much, complete with attitude and very poor service.

Out of all 3 times that I have ate at this place, I have felt as though I am irritating the staff everytime I am placing an order. The Rolling of the eyes and ever changing facial expressions of irritation tend be obvious.

Yesterday was my last and final visit. The 2 or 3 staff were very busy, and I felt a bit ignored. After a minute of no acknowledgement we got someone to take our order, but after a few questions about vegetarian options, my partner and I saw that our inquiries were frustrating the staff as she kept rolling her eyes and looking away. We felt rushed and forced to just place an order already. When our order was finally taken, we went to sit and wait for the food.

While waiting, we heard one of the staff talking but didn't realize she was speaking to us. She apparently told us to get our food at the counter that was sitting there for a bit, but couldn't really understand her with all the noise in the place. After we ate half our food, we realized we did not receive the coleslaw that we thought came with the meal.

I was afraid to ask about the coleslaw in fear of the reaction I would get from the staff. But my partner didn't care and decided to ask if there was suppose to be coleslaw with the meal, the response from the staff was interesting. Staff responded "Do you want one?" An immediate thought came to my mind, doesn't coleslaw come with the meal? If it does, then we paid for it, common sense I would think.

In closing, the food is amazing and worth 5 stars, but the dark heavy depressing colour of the black walls, the disgusting images on the CP24 channel playing on the TV and the poor customer service or lack there of, makes me say a sad good bye to Randy. Great idea but poorly executed.

I hope things work out and you make some changes as I really...

Absolutely disgusting. I was told a lot about this place and decided to give it a try. Regret it now because I have food poisoning and wish I listened to the other reviewers who got food poisoning from eating here.

I ordered veggie roti (Chana and potatoes), 2 doubles and plantains. I watched the lady make various food items without washing her hands or wearing gloves. Upto 90% of food is not made fresh or gourmet. Everything is sitting at room temperature and microwaved. The only thing I observed that was made fresh was plantains, which the lady mixed with days old plantain, and put in a box and gave it to me. I could immediately tell from taste which ones were fresh and which ones were stale. One of the fresh plantains still had a peel on it.

This place is absolutely gross and they do such a sloppy job of preparing your food, stingy with portions and reheating old food items, and stale taste. I asked for hot sauce on the side and I was told after I paid that it's extra. What kind of place charges extra for sauce that is supposed to come with your food? I was just put off by everything. I watched the lady drop a pre made fried chicken leg into the same oil as the plantain was cooked in. Repulsive!

I realize now that the red flags were everywhere. Food items sitting at room temperature, improper food handling, cross contamination and unsanitary practices. Do not make the same mistakes I did. The price is not worth food poisoning. Plus there are waaaaay better rotis and doubles places waiting for your business that make food fresh, tasty and in a sanitary...
