After watching a bad movie with a bud we found ourselves asking over and over again what pub did we want to end up at for some beer and wings. We ran down the usual suspects in the Bay & Bloor area.
Then I remembered that while buying a barbecue at Canadian Tire I had seen a little tiny English pub across the street.
I remembered it because my roommate and I had a discussion afterwards about what constituted a pub vs. a bar. Neither my bud or I had been so we decided to check it out.
When we arrived we realized this was a local, which suited us fine, but we hadn't known what to expect. There was a large old looking window that made the pub look like it was out of the shire. There was a jukebox hanging on the wall playing anything and everything and a few big screens littered with American football.
The people there all seemed friendly enough, and about the same age. Late twenties to early thirties. It looked like an older couple or two were having a pint and supper as well - it was obviously a local to have the clientele they held on a Sunday night.
We found a table for two and noticed it was wings night. Perfect! 1/2 priced wings all day on Sunday. And with something like 30 flavours, and your choice of baked or fried, this was a pretty sweet find. It also explained why a small local bar was doing fairly well on a Sunday night.
The wings came to our table - from a friendly server/hostess - and we chowed down. We commented on how amazing the wings were, and how massive. We've sat down at most of the wing joints in the city, but these were a real treat! Best wings in the city bar none.
In short, it's a small pub with a tonne of character and a mighty fine wing list! It's a short jaunt north of Bloor on Yonge right across from the Canadian Tire. If you find yourself wondering where to go and you're in the area, this might be the perfect fit for you and your...
Read moreHave snacked at this local pub for years!! 1/2 price wings, onion rings with chipotle sauce - amazing, spring rolls, deep fried pickles and all kinds of tasty tapas. 🧆🥟🫔 In the summer, great place to have a drink 🍹🍸🍺🍷appetizers and people watch on Yonge Street. Great prices and a great local atmosphere. This is one of our birthday stops, usually heading here to start out with a table full of appetizers and cocktails to get the party started. Through the years I think we have tried about every item on their menu; including new and old menu items. Onion rings, onion rings and oh yeah - the onion rings are definitely my favourite!! Every neighbourhood has one of these local hidden gems, Crown & Dragon is ours.
Update May 4, 2025 You wanna go where everybody knows your name … the Crown & Dragon has that locally flavoured ‘Cheers’ hospitality and while I don’t update every time we go there - I figured it was time! I had the Dragon Burger today with bacon and cheddar, side of fries 10/10!! My bestie had fish n chips; she also said 10/10 and our other friend had a burger and onion rings … 11/10 (I mean he had the onion rings - I managed to snag one and yes, I should have ordered them but I just forgot lol). I was able to extend my most sincere thank you for having been my first picture to receive 1,000,000+ views on Google - it was a pic of the front view of the Crown & Dragon, taken on Yonge Street a few years back. The whole crew came over showed us the hospitality again that we have come to love and appreciate through the years … the food is great, prices are great and the staff is great!!! 🍔🍟🍤🥗🍽️❤️...
Read moreAwful experience. Wings were dry inside. We arrived early because we knew there would be a wait for half price wing night. When we arrived, they said it would be a half hour wait. It turned out to be an hour and a half wait. A table opened that was 1 seat bigger then our party, and they seated a much larger group of 8 rather then seating our 4, even though we had been waiting longer. At the end of the meal, I asked for another pound of wings to go. She informed me it would be at full price. I agreed, and then decided based on our experience, I would ask them to give me the extra pound for half price, as we had waited for a long time and I was quite angry. They refused, and said this was the policy, which I would agree with if I hadnt just spent money in the restaurant already. Not allowing "to go" orders of half price wings was fine, but I had to leave as it was late, and if we had been seated an hour earlier, I would have eaten the third pound there. Anyways, I didn't appreciate the staff doing zero to make up for screwing us out of table, or the fact that we waited an hour and a half. Give me the wings for the price I paid for the other two pounds of wings. Like come on. Would never go back. 10000 percent not worth the wait. The manager was quite rude also when he "explained" the cause of our wait time. It was like he was explaining time management to me as if I was a child. If you've read this far, go to any other wing place. Deep fryers...
