This is our local cafe and we go there very often but my friends and I will not be returning anytime soon due to the incident that occurred on the long weekend. We were quite surprised/insulted with the way our issue was dealt with. Myself, my two other friends and our 3 girls had planned our day with the local Withrow park and the cafe for a picnic lunch. We ordered our food $100 ish for all 3 families in total. We left, we ate and enjoyed our food and drinks as usual in the park. My friend needed to use the washroom, decided instead of using the park washroom said she would go back to the cafe and ask to use the washroom as we were just there an hour ago and it was in closer proximity. The clerk answered "oh sorry the washroom is only for those eating on pour patio this is covid protocol". My friend was shocked and we were shocked when she came back telling us about the covid protocol. How does this make any sense? We just spent over $100 and we cant use your washroom (1 person) but I can go back and get a measly drink for less than $5 and sit on your patio for 5 minutes then I can use your washroom really? My friend then got home and contacted the head manager and even the manager stated that her employees were just following protocols. It was clear from her email responses that she was not bothered with my friends concerns simply brushing her off with its protocols and call me to further discuss. Discuss what? As local and frequent clients of this cafe we have all decided to not return there and have shared our experience with others as well due to this unfortunate time there. This is the first google review that I submit that is a 1 star and in my local community such a shame. We truly understand that these are difficult times at the moment with all these rules to be followed and that is completely okay but the "small issue" as a whole in our opinion did not make...
Read moreCan you believe that I found this little hidden gem, on a whim? I have been twice so far and plan to come back … to eat through the menu! The food offerings are inventive, flavourful and so fresh, with plenty of healthy options. I used to work in Hospitality, so, I know some stuff. The vibe is neighbourhood café and the place is so humble and unassuming, your meal is served on vintage plates and the seating area has well worn furniture. Prices are very reasonable for the level of quality you get. Service is professional and the place is well staffed. First visit I had the smoked salmon sandwich and cup of Moroccan style soup, both delish, I came with a friend and they claim to be another future patron. The second time l had the deconstructed sushi bowl and brought another friend to show off my restaurant choosing prowess, they had the turkey and avo sammich and they too were very impressed. Thanks for being around Riverdale Perk and giving me renewed hope that Toronto restaurant offerings are not just sous vide...
Read moreThis little local gem of a café is located right in the heart of a beautiful neighbourhood. It was quite busy, with lots of people coming and going to get drinks and bites, and be aware that is a small place, so there is not much inside seating. They do have some outdoor seating options on nice days!
My wonderful friend took me here to her local spot, and it is so cute! The interior is nicely decorated with wooden furniture and pillows. The tables were decorated with small flower bundles and painted rocks. They have a large selection of coffees, teas, savoury and sweet dishes. The baristas were lovely and hard at work at the main counter.
I got their lemonade made in-house, and it was delightful. We both got their “Grown Up Grilled Cheese”, at the recommendation of my friend. It was delicious and very healthy! It had an egg, avocado, mayo, pea shoots, onions and a light, melty cheese inside. I need to come back and try some of their available pastries!
A cute, local spot with top-notch, fairly...
