If youâre a fan of board games and casual hangouts, Snakes and Lattes is definitely worth a visit. I recently stopped by and had a pretty fun time overall, thanks mostly to the sheer variety of games available. Whether youâre into strategy games, party games, or obscure indie gems, thereâs something on the shelf for everyone. Itâs a perfect place for game nights with friends or even a casual date spot if youâre both into friendly competition.
Games & Entertainment â 5/5 The highlight of Snakes and Lattes is, without a doubt, the extensive library of board games. Itâs almost overwhelming in the best way. The staff seemed pretty knowledgeable too, and theyâre willing to explain how games work if youâre new to something. You could easily spend hours just hopping from one game to another.
Atmosphere â 4/5 The space is well-lit with a cozy, inviting aesthetic. It has that perfect mix of cafĂ© charm and relaxed lounge energy. Tables are spaced out just enough for comfort, and it feels like a place you could easily settle into for a few hours without feeling rushed or crammed.
Food & Drinks â 3/5 The food was decentânothing mind-blowing, but it gets the job done. Think elevated cafĂ© fare: burgers, snacks, a few vegetarian options. Drinks were okay too, though there were delays in both food and drink service. That definitely took a bit away from the overall experience. Itâs not the place you go just for a meal, but it works well enough if youâre mainly there for the games.
Service â 3/5 Service was friendly, but slow. It took a while for our food and drinks to arrive, and we had to flag someone down a couple of times. It wasnât enough to ruin the vibe, but noticeable enough to mention.
Final Thoughts: Snakes and Lattes is a gem for anyone who loves board games or just wants a different kind of night out. While the food and service could use a little tightening up, the atmosphere and entertainment value make up for it. Iâd definitely go back, especially with a group of friends looking for a laid-back night of games and laughs.

Read moreI've been frequenting the Midtown location ever since it opened as it's close to me and love the people there. A couple of friends and I decided to try this location and they allowed us to play our own game rather than theirs but we were told we'd be charged $15/per person if all we did was play games and not buy food/drinks, if we did, it would be $8/person to simply play minus the food/drinks. Fine, we all ordered food and drinks, I've only ever known of the $8/person for admission. To their credit, the servers were accommodating (hence the 2 stars) by opening a back section a few steps away from the main area for just our group of 7 so we could play with less noise.
However, I ordered a "Boozy Banana Milkshake" priced at $13.75 but without the booze (spiced rum) and was still charged the full $13.75. Granted, in hindsight, I should have confirmed if it would still cost me $13.75 for a mediocre basically vanilla milkshake ($7) with 2 (TWO) slices of banana and without the alcohol but didn't obviously because I was busy playing games. I do wish I had been told beforehand but maybe they forgot, it happens. When I did get the bill at the end I noticed it was in fact the full $13.75. I asked whether that was normal since I didn't get any alcohol in my milkshake and the server told me they'd speak to their manager. I was then told sorry, it'll still be $13.75 for a vanilla milkshake with 2 (TWO) slices of banana and no alcohol. My fault for not double checking but pretty damn ridiculous regardless. Lastly the subway constantly passes beneath and the entire floor rumbles every 5 minutes, as a footnote. I'll stick to the...
Read moreGenerally the food is pretty good, something are better than others but the price is what gets me, you're here to play board games so you sorta have to be here for a number of hours and you're GOING to get hungry but if you want anything substantial you're going to have to pay 15-25$ on TOP of the required game fee of 8$, and don't think you can just get a drink and be fine since most drinks range from 10-15$, they frequently don't have drip coffee so don't think you can just get that either. The staff themselves are friendly and nice but are clearly understaffed and overwhelmed most of the time that if you want to get the bill or order something else you're going to have to be fast to wave someone down or else you won't see anyone for another 15-20 minutes. If you come with a group of 6 or more you're also charged a required tip on top of everything else. I personally got the soup of the day which was the cheapest food option and caved since I was so hungry and shared the pretzel bites with 2 other people and my personal bill came out to 25$ and I left hungry. The others had bills ranging from 40-90$ so definitely come full. They also messed up our orders twice, giving us a latte instead of a hot chocolate to my friend who has a sensitivity to caffeine, and then came with an oreo cheesecake instead of caramel which was an easier fix thankfully. All in all it was a pleasant-enough experience but did not leave me wanting...
