Souvla By Mamakas — Restaurant in Toronto

I was out for a long walk on a sunny day when I stumbled on this place, tucked away on the perpetually under-construction Scollard St. The room is a clean and well-lit space perfect for take-out or to sit for a quick lunch at a handful of tables comfortably placed around the floor. The gentleman at the counter was super friendly and hospitable. They have a selection of drinks including alcoholic options. I ordered the chicken pita with a side of wedges. The wedges were perfectly crisp and lemony with a hint of oregano. I could eat just the wedges and be perfectly happy with myself but the chicken pita was excellent. Everything down to the pita itself (which fans of Mamakas will know all too well) is made in house from scratch and didn't disappoint. For twenty bucks the portion was excellent. The generous serving of chicken was moist and flavorful and wrapped up with lots of red onion, tomato and tzatziki. Delicious. Decided to try Souvla on ubereats strictly because it was by Mamakas and I love that place. The feta fries were delicious. They had lots of feta and some of the fries were still crispy when I got my order! Would recommend those. The chicken pita was ok… I have had much better at cheap Greek places in food courts or take out windows on the Danforth. I found the chicken was tender and flavourful but I had some bites of fat and cartilage I had to pull out while chewing. I didn’t enjoy that. I also found there was not enough tzatziki and only one tomato on the whole pita. It’s like the sauce and tomato were only at the top so when you look at the pita it looks amazing but after a couple bites you just get pita. Sneaky sneaky! There were lots of fries on it though if you’re into that.

Ordered through uber eats their BOGO "dessert promo" which lets you pick 2 servings of their desserts per order which would be 4 servings with BOGO. I only received half my order so I immediately contacted ubereats for a refund which was denied stating that "delivery matched order". I then contacted the restaurant to explain my situation and the staff member kept trying to tell me that the BOGO is buy one piece and get one more which is absolutely not the case. She then gave me the email to one of their managers Lucas who I reached out too. Lucas replied the same day apologizing for the confusion and asked me for an order number so he could refund my order. That was the last I heard from him despite 2 follow up emails. Refund was not received. All I wanted...
