I used to go to Starbucks for years, despite having subpar, sugar loaded and unnecessarily expensive drinks and snacks. Once I found out they were not only perfectly happy and complacent in supporting genocide but also actively funded it willingly; I decided it was time to stop buying anything from them. This lead me to trying to cancel my gold card through the app (was not an option until recently) so I tried calling their customer support who stated they couldn't do anything to give me my money back that was preloaded on my card via the app. I called again a few weeks later and was informed that due to the ongoing genocide that Starbucks so happily supports, they've made it "convenient" for "unsatisfied customers" to cancel their card through the app and that they would be reimbursed in form of a gift card containing their balance and could go into any Starbucks location, talk to the manager and get their money back. Believing their words (big mistake) I did exactly that, cancelled my card via the app, uninstalled the app, waited for the gift card with my balance (not much btw, $10.61 - not the point), went to a Starbucks near me and told them exactly what I said above. The girl at the counter's whole attitude from "Welcome to Starbucks! đ" Changed to "Uhhh yeah no, we can't do that, not how it works" and wanted nothing to do with me. Informed the manager who gave me exactly the same attitude and was basically told to go away. Called Starbucks' customer service once again and lo and behold, "I'm sorry sir that's our policy". Why is it so easy to take money directly from people's cards in your app but impossible to refund? Why lie and send people through unnecessary hurdles only for them to get nowhere and made a fool? Absolutely atrocious company with terrible customer service both over the phone and in store and will happily supports an active genocide...
Read moreThis review is for the Starbucks across the street from Eglinton station; This is the most convenient location for me to pick up my coffee while on my commute to work in the mornings but Iâm done coming here after my experience this morning:
I typically do mobile pickup and there have been multiple instances where the staffâs service has been less than welcoming and borderline rude but I just brush it off as morning rush stress and choose to ignore it. However, one staff memberâs attitude continually stands out. I didnât catch her name but sheâs the tall black girl, usually wears a black face mask. I had just walked in and was looking for my drink, I have a pretty common name so I want to make sure I take the correct order. She saw me looking at the drinks, walked over asked âwhat are you looking forâ - I told her my name and drink. She said âis that not it right there?â And pointed to a drink with the name sticker covered by a sleeve, my wrap hiding behind it. Obviously I didnât touch it because I wasnât sure if it was mine or not and I didnât want to touch someone elseâs food. Her service really rubbed me the wrong way and I felt uncomfortable. This isnât the first time sheâs been passive aggressive with me or other customers either, to top it off my drink was missing the syrup I paid extra for. Iâm disappointed and this experience wasnât a good start to my day.
Other Starbucks in the area are much better both in service and...
Read moreWeak, bland drinks: limp, stale, frozen food. When you shell out 6$ for a signature beverage, you think to yourself, "Wow this is a colossal waste of money, but at least it will taste good." This Starbucks defies the latter half of that justification, delivering mediocrity at every turn.
I only visited today to refine my homemade imitation of the shaken oat espresso, only to learn that I have long since surpassed this location in coffee making -- note: my barista hardware consists only of a french press compared to their thousand dollar industry standard coffee machines.
Go to bulk barn, buy french roast, brew it tepidly overnight and then press and serve with cream, sugar, oat milk, etc. It amazes me that an institution solely dedicated to making beverages can have such poor quality control.
On the plus side, I now appreciate the 439 university location more. My experience at that location, which I would have previously perceived to be average, turned out to be exceptional given the new Starbucks standard.
The employees did not seem too happy either, again falling short of the 439 university experience, which had a palpable air of positivity. Limited seating, a cramped serving area and several unnecessary employees behind the counter rounded off this...
