Subway — Restaurant in Toronto

I'm sure that the only reason this place has the rating it does is because most people have not come back after the change in management or they have not revised their reviews.

This is a long term review based on years of experience living in this neighbourhood and coming to this location regularly. Suffice it to say I won't be coming back.

It used to be good, and both the service and quality of the food was solid. Those things have changed along with the snobby and cheap new management.

The quality of the food is mediocre, but that's more Subways fault than it is this specific location. Everything is bland and only tastes palliatable when you throw a sauce on it that has a boat load of sugar in it. The cheese all tastes super processed - I don't think they use any fresh cheese anymore. The beef (that they laughably call steak) is basically just standard ground beef. Both the beef and the chicken taste rubbery and bland. They used to marinate certain meats in a sauce that at least gave some nice flavour, they don't do that anymore.

The service though.... That I can speak to. Both the management and the staff look completely depressed and out to lunch like they'd rather be doing anything else. The compulsory "welcome to subway" sounds cold and forced instead of warm and welcoming. And God help you if you ask for extra toppings or condiments to make your sandwich how you enjoy it. They'll stand there and meticulously place one single solitary piece at a time - and if you ask for more they're even more stingy than that. Their sandwiches used to be fully loaded and look like they're about to explode. Now they are sad, thin and pathetic, with hardly anything inside. But they'll still very gladly charge you approx $20 for one, and then demand a tip afterwards.

I know I'm being hyper critical here but I've actually tried to politely give them feedback and tell them about how it used to be. My feedback was ignored and I've been treated with contempt ever since.

This is just disappointing. I actually liked coming here. It was nothing special but it would hit the spot when you're hungry and just wanted to eat.

Now even the new interior design doesn't help you forget that the new people running it are just miserable and cheap, and that the food is mediocre at best.

I’ve been a loyal Subway customer for over 8 years, but this location was a special kind of disappointment. Despite the glowing reviews, the service was anything but friendly. The employee seemed like she was doing me a huge favor just by taking my order. When I asked for a little extra black olives and jalapeños—something every other Subway has done without a problem—she snapped, "I can't add more than the required quantity." And when I mentioned that other Subways do it, her brilliant response was, "Not this Subway." As if that’s supposed to be a selling point. She also insisted on giving me the bare minimum quantity of sauce, because apparently generosity isn’t on the menu here. Given the other reviews praising the service, I’m left wondering if my brown skin had something to do with my special treatment. It’s sad to think that might be the case. This Subway location is clean and offers fresh ingredients for your sandwich. However, the employee working today around 2:30pm (name starts with an M) was extremely rude. Also, she continued to speak to her coworker Bea, in their native language after every question she asked me; which led me to believe they were saying mean things about me. I asked for three cookies along with my sub ( cookies were for my small children at home) and she repeated “so you want 3 cookies” then spoke to her coworker in their native language. When it was time to pay, I only had a 50 dollar bill, she asked for smaller change and I replied I have none. She then threw my cash on the table, walking away speaking her native language.

I will say, her coworker didn’t really respond to her, and if she did, it was very low… almost as though she didn’t want to engage in whatever she was saying to her.
