UPDATE!!!! DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE, DO NOT PAY FOR DELIVERY!!! SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE FROM BEING RIPPED OFF!!! I JUST placed my second delivery order from Taste of China. Trust me, believ the comments! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! I spent $50.80 on 4 items, Fried Noodles with Mixed Seafood, Deep Fried Squid and Seafood with Seasoned Vegetables, plus steam rice. Iordered pretty much the same meal I ordered I had ordered below and I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS RESTAURANT!!! The Fried Noodles With Mixed Seafood was this: ALL NOODLES and 3 pieces of Shrimp, 3 pieces of SMALL Squid, and 3 of THIN SMALLScallops and 2 leaves of Bok Choi! THAT'S IT!!! When I called back asking what happened to the seafood, I spoke to one man, he transferred me to a woman and immediately she started shouting at me. I explained myself how can a meal cost $12.00 and I get only noodles? The woman called me back again shouting at me telling me that "You got what you paid for. Some cooks give more, some give less. You can't get the same meal every time you order, you can't get more seafood because you want more. Don't call back--"then she had the audacity to slam the phone down on my ear!

Even the cook called me back and told me that what he cooked for me is what I get. After fighting for 20 minutes, I was offered by the cook another meal. But, after that I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM TASTE OF CHINA EVER AGAIN!!! I HAVE SPENT WITH TWO DELIVERIES OVER $110 AND NO CONSISTENCY WITH DELIVERY ORDERS!

I thought that I wouldn't be one of their scanning victims because this is what I wrote from Saturday AND GAVE THEM 4/5 (STAR LOST BECAUSE OF MSG), but THIS is unbelievable!!!

Here's my previous comment!

Late night delivery was awesome after having a long day move. I just ordered on early Sunday morning at 1:53am and my order came within 46 minutes! Love the deep fried squid! Would have given the restaurant had 5/5, but the MSG is a zinger. If you get migraines like me, make sure to take half of Maxalt 10mg wafer and smoke a bowl and...

This was my first time in Toronto in about 25 years and my wife and children’s first time. We immediately hiked over to Spadina to find the Chinatown and wandered around for about 30 minutes or so looking at all of the local eateries, finally settling on Taste of China Seafood Restaurant. It did not disappoint.

We started with a fairly simple but tasty carrot and chicken broth. Not a whole lot to it, but it had a nice flavor. That would be the theme of the meal.

My older son had a seafood noodle soup which again had not a lot of complexity to it but a lot of good, solid flavor. Similarly, my wonton soup was delicious despite “only” containing wontons, egg noodles and some greens.

My younger son had an order of roast pork fried rice that was also pretty simple but had a lot of “wok hei” (IYKYK). His only criticism was that it could have had a little more egg in it.

My wife and I split an order of shrimp with lobster sauce and an order of Singapore mei fun. Both were great, but the shrimp with lobster sauce was especially good. I LOVE LOVE LOVE shrimp with lobster sauce, but I mostly can only get the Chinese takeout version with the somewhat colorless sauce. This one had a rich, intensely savory deep brown sauce flavored by the soy beans and chunks of pork in it. It was much more similar to how one would make it at home, and I think this was definitely the best shrimp with lobster sauce I’ve had in a restaurant.

The Singapore mei fun was good, but two thoughts from me: a tad too many bean sprouts and not as strong on the spice as I prefer. Still delicious, though! :)

Overall it was a great meal for our first night in Toronto. We went in to the night sort of expecting an okay quick meal just to get something to eat on our first night and were pleasantly surprised...

AVOID - HORRIBLE SERVICE / NO SERVICE

Ive been here with my family multiple times, not for the food but for its convenience ( my grandmother cant walk far.) Ever time we've been, their service was ALWAY lacking. My girlfriend is Caucasian and she felt she was ignored, sure we thought they didnt mesh well being immigrants. Okay. Another time we asked for the bill, they acknowledged us but it was busy. We were patient and understood the situation but once the server had a little downtime, she went in their little nook and went on her cellphone. Another time we went around 6, dinner rush was beginning and they had maybe 8 tables. We were the SECOND table seated. We had our menus closed, waited and eventually gestured for service. Our server continued on to service EVERY table except ours and once she 'finished' she went on to greet and seat NEW customers while we waved several times. We poured a little tea by 'accident' woops! and left.

What did I realized? all the tables were everything but ASIAN. I thought she couldnt be THIS incompetent and wondered were they doing this on purpose? (the lady with short hair and always in black dress shirt and pants/manager) I figured they rather have customers of other backgrounds. Maybe they average more tip per table, sure. A little to racist, of course!

They seem to have only 4 servers I know of. Two females, two males. Both females are very snarky and rude. Ive only had the gentlemen with the glasses once, so i cant comment.

AVOID AT ALL COST! Go eat some pho, Go to Lee Garden, New Ho King, the korean spot by the LCBO thats under a store front...

This place has fallen from grace. I have many happy memories (pre covid) of delicious and generous portions, beautifully prepared. No longer. Instead they have chosen to offer misleading bogo items likely to increase traffic. This was an order through Uber Eats. Ordered seafood hot and sour soup , which was tasty but had no seafood. My concern was blown off when I called and I was told there is less seafood because of rising costs. Problem was, there was no seafood at all. Ordered the “fried thick noodles with shrimp and pork” as a bogo. The first dish had three embryonic shrimp, roughly the size of a pinky nail, and a couple fragments of mostly fatty pork in a bed of spaghetti. The only thing thick about this dish was the description. We’ve lost so many good restaurants to Covid and it saddens me that Taste of China is on a serious decline. Hopefully they can get their act together. Until then, I’m out.

We went to Taste of China Seafood Restaurant in Chinatown to celebrate my grandpa’s 85th birthday, and it was a good time. The vibe was relaxed, and the staff was friendly, which made it nice for our family gathering. The food was alright—nothing amazing, but definitely decent. The seafood was fresh, though some dishes could’ve used a little more flavor. It wasn’t bad, but just a little more kick in the seasoning would’ve made a difference. The service was pretty solid, even with the place being busy. They made sure we had everything we needed, which was cool. Overall, it was a chill spot for the occasion. Not the best food ever, but it worked for the celebration. With a little tweaking, it could be even better. Wouldn’t mind coming back to give it another go 🥳🥳🥳
