Eating here was an interesting experience! This was my first time trying Native American cuisine and I quite liked it.
[P.S. we waited for OVER 30 MINUTES for the food. Based on other reviews, long cook-times seem to be common so get ready to wait]
They gave us free salted popcorn to start!
I ordered the Salmon Burger ($12): (3.8/5) Smaller than I expected but surprisingly really filling. The bun (used frybread bun) was VERY UNIQUE... heavy and dense, crispy on the outside, n crumbly but chewy on the inside (reminded me of biscuits!). The green-ish sauce was also really good! A bit hard to eat bcs it was a fat burger so I used fork+knife lol. Salmon was standard, coleslaw was great!
Strawberry Juice ($4): (3/5) Used real, fresh strawberries, not too sweet n tasted good. HOWEVER I found it too diluted. It was a little too watery.
Friend ordered the Pickerel Dinner ($21): (idk/5) I tried just a bit of this. The pan fried fish seemed more deep fried (coated w flour). A little bland n dry imo. THE WILD RICE WAS SO GOOD THO. It was sauteed with mushrooms n veg, LOVED the texture of the rice n the overall flavour!
Overall, it was super interesting and fun to try, but the taste wasn't "amazing". (might just not be used to this kind of food tbh). I'd come back to try their samplers; all their other dishes seem...
Read moreI went here yesterday for dinner with a friend of mine and my mom. The atmosphere was so calm and in the background they had some quiet instrumental music playing, which set the mood completely. It was very true to it's Native roots with the decor. The food was absolutely delicious.
I ordered the Bison Burger (with a side of coleslaw) I'm not a particularly big fan of coleslaw, but this was the best I've ever had. The burger was delicious but was very filling. I wasn't able to finish it and had to take it home. My mom and friend ordered the Navajo Taco and enjoyed it as well, but also had to take the rest home.
Before our meals arrive, we decided to order a side, the Sample Plater. It had a few bison and salmon sliders and a small variety of different types of bread (bannock) As well as a certain type of berry jam for spreading. It came with a side of small bear paws that were a delicious dessert afterwards.
At the end, we all decided to order a nice hot cup of Cedar Tea, which I would highly recommend anyone to try (you may want to add some sugar to...
Read moreUnique place to experience true aboriginal cuisine and culture. The place was filled with aboriginal culture and in a corner, they have a few magazines and booklets concerning aboriginal topics.
Though the service was a bit slow, in which I had to grab the menu by myself. They were extremely welcoming and advised me on what was best to order. I got the bison burger and the mohawk herbal tea, the burger itself was surprisingly good - they didn't use any seasoning (as far as I can tell) on the bison, yet it was tender and favourful, the bun itself is made from bannock, which is similar to a scone, except without the use of butter., so it was light and fluffy without leaving an residue. the mohawk herbal tea is described as a sweet tea, there seems to be a few fruits to make up the tea blend, but I couldn't tell which, it almost seem like a type of black tea without the bitter taste. Note: the dishes are plentiful during dinner, but less during lunch.
Overall, it was an amazing experience and I'll definitely be back to try the other dishes that is...
