Please do not waste your money coming here! (ALSO FUNNY THAT WITHIN TWO HOURS OF MY BAD REVIEW, 5 GOOD REVIEWS GET POSTED IMMEDIATELY, AND THAT THE OWNER ONLY RESPONDS TO GOOD REVIEWS) TDLR: Saw the waiter once before he left to go into the other part of the restaurant (where there were no customers, just three other waitresses vaping and at this point I'm guessing also writing fake good reviews). No water, no napkins, etc. Food was awful, seemed as though it was made by a child that was running out of ingredients. Rude waiters, bad food, honestly one of the worst places I have ever been too in my life.
My partner and I entered the place and right away felt uncomfortable as the three servers stared at us as though we had just trespassed into their hangout. We say hello, and wait for the server’s vape smoke to clear (yeah!!) before being told there’s space in the back.
We sit down, and the waiter had the exact same attitude as the others. We debated leaving right then and there but unfortunately we did not think it would get worse. It did. We had to practically beg the waiter to give us two TINY glasses of water on a 36c hot day. After the initial glass of water was given to us, we received our food order from someone else (I believe kitchen staff!), (without the adds on we asked for as well) we simply did not see our waiter again. Not once, did the waiter come to ask us if we needed some more water, napkins, more drinks, for a 30 min period!
While the service was abysmal, don’t worry the food was worse!!
While I understand that not every restaurant will be accommodating to my dietary restrictions, this restaurant which was once known for its wide variety, now has only one vegetarian entree (not even the salads were meat-free). After the waiter had told us that it was sold out, I started looking for what else was accommodating (nothing), but instead of the waiter giving me a nod, or letting me know he’ll be back once we’ve figured what else we’d like, or perhaps even suggest something else— we instead got the same vacant stare with no talking that we had received when we first sat down.
After ordering what I thought would be (from my memory) tasty and filling food, I again was sadly disappointed. The nachos were seemingly made by someone with no chef experience (not that you need any to make nachos) as the cheese and bean spread was on the bottom of all of the chips! Whilst the rest of the ingredients were merely laying on the very top. The cauliflower bites lacked any flavour and the sauce was minimal and at the bottom! We finished our food, still hungry, still thirsty, simply wanting some napkins so we can pay for our bill, and leave this experience . As mentioned before, the waiter never actually came back to our table, (and from the looks of it, to any of the other tables either!!) we go to the front of the restaurant, when we see the other two servers (the ones vaping) sitting down with our waiter, and oh? Did I mention the fact that not one customer was seated in the front of the restaurant? And he had the audacity to ask if we’d like to order anything...
Read more*Edit 08/30: Roughly three weeks have passed, and I've yet to receive any follow-up or communication regarding the incident. It appears that the management is primarily attentive to favorable reviews while neglecting those who've encountered negative situations. This situation strongly reflects the state of Customer Care and their priorities. *
I recently had a truly unfortunate and hazardous experience at The Dime on Queen. Not only did they serve me a shot with a chip in the glass, which ended up cutting my lip and inside of my mouth, but their response to the incident left me deeply disappointed and concerned for the safety of their patrons.
I ordered a shot, and when I drank it I felt a sudden pinch on the side of my lip. I discovered that the shot glass was chipped and the sharp edge caused a cut on my lip, and it started bleeding. Throughout the rest of our service, I had to sit at the bar, using a napkin to dab my lip and contain the bleeding. The incident left me quite uncomfortable and concerned about the overall safety standards at the restaurant.
When I approached the bartender about the incident, I was met with a shocking response. He explained that it was against their policy to comp drinks and instead offered me another shot as a resolution. I couldn't believe that, even after sustaining an injury in their establishment, they were unwilling to make amends. It was as if they prioritized their profits over the safety and well-being of their customers.
I expressed my concern, questioning whether they would have handled the situation differently had the consequences been more severe, like if I had accidentally swallowed the glass. Would they have simply offered me another shot to "make up for it"? This lack of empathy and disregard for the potential harm caused by their own service is deeply troubling.
It is worth mentioning that the new bartender, who seemed to be genuinely trying to explain the establishment's policies, ended up taking the situation into his own hands and comping the shot after we insisted on speaking to a manager. However, he appeared visibly worried about potential repercussions, which suggests a culture of fear and strict adherence to policies rather than prioritizing customer safety and satisfaction.
I strongly believe that The Dime urgently needs to reevaluate their policies and procedures when it comes to handling customer injuries caused by their service. The fact that they initially refused to take responsibility and only provided compensation after insistence shows a lack of accountability and customer care.
I sincerely hope that my feedback will prompt The Dime to address these issues and prioritize the safety and well-being of their customers...
Read moreThe bar has two sections (a front and a back). We were seated at the back, which is not completely closed to the outdoors. There was a bit of a breeze this night and I asked the server if/when the heat lamps would be turned on. This was met with her telling me "I don't know. I'm sweating in here." Of course she was warmed up, she's walking around. In any case, I just simply asked if it would be turned on. I was not rude at all, but she was so rude to me! I'm not sure why she felt threatened by my question but she never came back to let me know that it couldn't be turned on.
After this initial interaction, she never came by again. This is the server at The Dime who has the long ear lobes, brown hair and some tattoos. My friend had to call out to her to get her to take her order. After she took my friend's order of food and drink, she completely ignored me and walked away. She didn't ask me if I wanted anything. I know I wasn't rude to her up until this point. It was so bizarre that she took me questioning the temperature of the room so personally!! After this, I was extremely annoyed at her customer service.
The blonde server that night saw that I wasn't being served and approached me to ask if I wanted anything. She turned the night around as best she could and was a pleasure to talk to. She told us the specials, something that the server with the brown hair did not do. Unfortunately when my friend's potato skins came out after an hour and it had green onions on it, after she had told the original server she did not want it on her meal. She was an extremely terrible server! She didn't even offer to bring us water either. The second server was great and did this for us but it was quite late into our time there.
The service in a bar is just as important as the food and drink and atmosphere. For me, this bar didn't do well in any of those categories! The front part of the bar looked nicer than the back. I didn't like the temperature, or the vibe of the back room where we were seated. I only ordered one drink because I couldn't stand spending more time in that bar. The drink was the sour key. It was tasty but had so much ice. My friend said she enjoyed the potato skins, but was put off by the onions. And I especially hated the service of the brown-haired waitress. The second server came by late and is the only reason why I'm giving this bar two stars instead of one. I won't...
